**Q: what is the metal plate for?**
A: The metal plate on the floor holds the roller.  The roller can be mounted anywhere along this plate.  The plate on the side holds another roller, so the door won't get scraped.

**Q: what is the thickness of the base of the bracket? 3/16?**
A: The bottom thickness of CCJH this kind Door Floor Guide is 5mm/0.

**Q: Is this product stainles steel?**
A: Not certain if It is stainless steel. it is powder coated.  It is black.  In my home these have worked very well.

**Q: I want to keep the guide on the floor but raise the wheel half an inch or so. Is there any way to do that?**

I installed a new garage side door in the "Barn door style" which had stainless fittings for the outside use. The new guide replaced an old rusty version which did little to guide the old door now replaced. The guide arrived very quickly and was easy to fit and is well made and should last for a while. Good product and happy.
