Awesome
Incredible move by canon. I hope to see more internal powered zoom lenses. The only downsides of this camera are the hot shoe mount, lack of EVF and the low light. Photo wise, The hot shoe is a new multi function mount, meaning you cannot put any third party flashes on this camera. The lack of EVF makes it hard to do photography with this camera. For video, this little camera is a beast. There is no IBIS. Beginner friendly UI, fast Autofocus, decent battery life. The top selling point for this camera would absolutely be the 4k 60 with CLOG 3. Compared to the R50 and R100, this R50V has very smooth, usable 4k60. The others have a bad jello-effect wobble with the sensor readout. However, the 4K60 in this camera is a game changer. The CLOG3 alone makes this camera worth it. Design: very small, possibly too small for big hands. Very little grip. But I love the look of this camera. The front record button, the tally light, my gosh. This is like a mini FX3. Hey Canon, please keep going with the V series! More like this!!! Front record buttons! Tally lights! Build quality is okay, all plastic. It’s about as durable as the R50. My dream camera: all of this, square body like this, tally lights, slightly bigger, and an EVF with the universal hot shoe mount. Canon, please stop getting rid of the universal mounts.

Great for Beginners
If you are thinking about moving up from an R100, I would recommend it. I originally purchased the R100 and returned it for this. It has a ton of more features, and the R50V's video capabilities are even more powerful than the regular R50 with 4K 60fps cropped or 30fps uncropped. You don't get a viewfinder, but the touch screen is versatile and I haven't had a problem using outdoors. Battery life is solid, also if using as webcam it stays powered thru USB-C. Very easy to switch camera modes in the menu even though there's only one image mode on the dial. The V body is more sleek, so putting a pancake lens on would make it very easy to travel with. You won't be disappointed!

The Cannon R50 V offers exceptional functionality at an affordable price.
The Canon R50 V is a terrific choice for all levels of content creators. Accompanied with the RF-S10-18mm F4.5-6.3 STM Ultra-Wide lens this is my go-to camera for traveling when I need to keep my gear light. I also bought a SmallRig cage with a side handle attachment. This setup is fantastic for travel with my Peak design shoulder sling bag. I add a Hollyland Bluetooth mic kit, and I’m ready to go. I also purchased a SmallRig handheld tripod with Bluetooth connectivity. The camera’s video and still image quality is truly outstanding. A wonderful value and addition to my Cannon arsenal. It’s easy to use and the vertical filming is a great option for social media story posts.

Do better.
Really, nothing special as a camera. The plastic body is low-quality, but I guess that is why it is so lightweight. At best, it's a solid webcam, but I'd say the lack of manual user options is probably why I would rate it so low. Ui on the camera is buggy and laggy, lots of issues, save your coins

Best value
I wish it had IBIS but for the price point, the electronic stabilization + kit lens stabilization is quite good. Audio and video quality are excellent. This camera is so light and small. Easy to haul around. I am afraid that it’s too light and could break easily but I’m careful. Menus are a bit oversimplified. It’s not horrible but I don't see the point of it when the regular menu system works fine.

Not a typical SLR - and that's a good thing.
I really like this camera but I also have mixed feelings about it. For experienced photographers who are used to typical SLR-style cameras, this will take a bit of getting used to. It's small, like a point-and-shoot model, but it has all the functionality of a modern digital camera. Because the camera is small, you don't really hold it the same way as you would an SLR. It's light and comfortable with smaller lenses, but a bit awkward if you mount a larger lens, especially hand-held. However, when you put it on a tripod, it works great, especially with the large, flexible touchscreen. I especially like the ability to control the camera with an app on my phone, but it makes me want to be able to control the tripod that way too!
