Our dining room buffet where I was carving is across from the outlets, and I had to scramble to find an extension cord 20 minutes before dinner. Kind of killed the smooth host vibe I was going for. Also fair warning - it's loud enough that conversation stops when you fire it up. Not a huge deal, but just know everyone will be watching you carve. Does the job beautifully and makes you look like you know what you're doing. Just make sure you have an extension cord handy if your carving spot isn't right next to an outlet. This electric carving knife worked great! It cut through our Thanksgiving turkey perfectly—clean slices with no effort at all. I started making my own bread and was getting frustrated trying to slice it and it turning into an aggravating mess. Decided to try this knife and it was the best $20 investment ever. I don't really use it for anything else, but I can imagine it would be great for meats, cheeses, etc. I absolutely love it for my bread making! Frustration gone!

I researched all kinds of electric carving knives at prices up to overt $150 before deciding to try this one. I've used this electric carving knife on several turkeys, a few chickens, some roasts and a couple of ham legs with great success. I was worried that the seemingly loose blade assembly would be a problem but it has cut extremely well every time. Slices come out smooth and the meat is not torn up. Cutting speed is excellent and doesn't require very much downward force to happen. Black+Decker has made an excellent product and Amazon sold it at a great price. Thank-you very much!
