This is a great looking knight's outfit. For the price, the quality is excellent and it looks sharp when fully assembled. The size chart is right on and a size small fit my son perfectly with some room to grow. He is in the 6-8 range and this should fit most kids in this age range comfortably. It is a little stretchy so it can likely fit a lot of different body types. I would store this gently as I think most of the damage to this will be done when it is tossed around in a bin or bag. Once on, we didn't have any issues with it falling apart or any threads getting frayed. The belt is a little cheap, but doable. I would swap out the belt with any leather belt you have laying around or a rope maybe. My son didn't want to wear the boots or arm greaves, but they both look good when on. The boot covers are probably a little too baggy for most kids in the small size range, but a few paper clips would make it a quick fix on the fly. I highly recommend this outfit. ****This does not come with a shield and sword**** Still worth it for the price and most kids ditch the shield fast anyway. I don't know what anyone is talking about, this is an awesome costume. Yeah okay, it's not real chain mail or something, but it's not crepe paper either. It's a great costume for the money, looks totally cool, and if you aren't a complete doof when handling it and your kid isn't a gigantic spaz when wearing it, it should hold up just fine for its purpose - a costume not a daily play outfit. Easily 5 stars with zero buyer's remorse. On a related note, this is like the 4th or 5th California Costumes we've bought and all of them have been killer and well worth the price.

Other reviewers weren't kidding when they said just a tiny snag on the wrong thing (including the velcro that's on the wrist cuffs), causes the "chain mail" material to unravel. It really does snag easily. My son tried it on the night we got it, and in the 5 minutes he wore it, two places on the chain mail material got snagged on something and unraveled. He'll have to be very careful on Halloween not to brush up against anything rough. The chain mail is made from a woven silver metallic-looking material...the threads remind me of tinsel like you'd use on a Christmas tree. It looks great, but isn't going to be very durable long-term. Size-wise, the medium (8-10) fits him very well with lots of room to spare, without being too big. He's a tall but very thin just-turned-8-yr-old: 53" and around 60 lbs. The shoulders of the tunic are roomy and it's long enough without being too long; the sleeves are also long enough (they're 3/4-length sleeves with wrist cuffs that fit over them). The wrist cuffs are a tiny bit too big for him, but not so much that they don't stay on. I just have to watch the velcro patch on them that it doesn't snag on the "chain mail" sleeves. Included in this set is: the tunic with 3/4 sleeves, belt, headpiece, wrist cuffs, and leg cuffs that I think are supposed to look like tall black boots when worn over black shoes. You have to supply the shoes and the pants yourself. We are using black thermal long-johns for the pants, and black shoes.

My son loves his costume. What I do not understand, however, is the fact that the fabric and "leather" pieces are decent quality, but the "chainmail" is so cheap that it unravels practically instantaneously! Within a few minutes it was snagging and pulling. It is still a great Halloween costume for the price, but I know it will not last a boy who is obsessed with knights and castles. It seems kind of silly to mix good quality with something that is so crummy.

I ordered this for next day shipping and it arrived quick and fast! It came with everything, but the sword and shield which was perfectly fine because I wasn't expecting them. It's pretty good quality for the price and it looks fantastic together! Keep in mind that it is not for wearing multiple times, but fantastic all together. It didn't seem uncomfortable and it was pretty true to it's size. I would recommend this to everyone!

My grandson decided that he wanted to be a night for Halloween, usually he's a Scotsman and where is his kilt, but for the first time in five years he's decided he wants to be a night! We went shopping online and found this costume. It's very well-made, the headpiece fits excellent, the boots are a little large but I will easily be able to alter them to make them fit his skinny stick like legs. The whole uniform set is very well-made and we also purchased the illustrated sword and shield, it makes for a very complete cute knight

My son loved this for his Halloween costume! Good quality for the price.

We ordered this for our eight year old. With very low expectations, we had nowhere to go but up. The head covering is really nice. Thin, fragile, but it looks fantastic. I was worried it might be hard to get the narrow part over his head, but it worked fine. The tunic is very nice. The wrist guards are a bit big and slide around, but some double sided tape will fix that. Likewise, the boot toppers are a bit big, but can easily be tightened with some tape or safety pins. Overall, this was excellent value for money. I was impressed with the quality. I don't think it would last long as a daily play costume, but I believe my younger son will be able to be a knight, or perhaps use this in a school play or dress-up day a couple times before it is spent. Wish it came with gloves made from the same fabric as the hat.

I ordered up a size and it's perfect. It's a decent quality costume that my 8 year old is thrilled with. If you intend it to be an all the time dress up costume I don't think the "chainmail" will be up to it. The chainmail hood etc is loosely woven metallic plastic. It catches on things easily. But for a couple of occasions a year.. Halloween and a Medieval Fair or 2 this fits the bill nicely. Does not come with sword or shield.
