Awesome fan, very very quiet, with great airflow. Worth every penny!
UPDATE: July 2019 - This fan no longer comes with a "smart" controller, and now comes with a humidity controller. The biggest difference is that once it hits the set temperature it turns off (or on) completely. It does not vary speed with temperature. After purchasing a new unit last month I had to call AC INFINITY to order the old style controller, because I need the fan to always run at least at the lowest speed. FREAKING LOVE THIS FAN!! It is worth the extra money over a $60-120 fan. If you need things to be quiet,or need a smart variable fan (slower when lights are off, and faster when lights are on), than this will get the job done. It has 6 speed settings, with 1-5 being very quiet, and 6 being a little loud. Even though it is rated at a lower CFM than most other fans this size, the side by side hand test had me thinking this fan puts out 20-30% more air. In my specific example, I had a $80 fan 8" fan I bought a few month ago running just above its lowest speed (because of noise) and room temperature hovered about 88-90º with ambient temp of 80º. With this fan running at speed 4 or 5 during lights on.the room temperature hovered about 84-85º. The noise at this speed is at least half as loud as the old fan on its low speed, and temps are 5º cooler, WIN! Plus when lights are off the speed slows to 3 or 4 and I cannot even hear the fan any more. This is such a huge improvement for my indoor grow as lights off is during the day and I can no longer hear the fan. NOTE: The controller on this fan will not control 2 fans like on the 4" and 6" versions.

Blue tooth operations and efficient and relatively quiet
This is an excellent fan. I purchased it to be used as a window fan. Most window fans for the most part are wimpy in comparison to this monster. This will give you wind output from a calm breeze to near hurricane force. The volume level is not what is stated at 39 db. At a distance of 3 feet I measured the decibels at 75db on the highest setting of 10. That said, this was with no ducting attached attached. With ducting attached it dropped to 70db. I will likely be using the fan in the neighborhood of 4, which drops the sound level to about 57db. In my NYC apartment the ambient level clocks out a 54db just 3 db less. So in this respect the sound is very quiet from the fan. Another interesting factoid about this fan compared to others is that it has a plastic body as opposed to metal. Normally, I would say metal is better, however the quality of plastic is excellent and it is definitely quieter than the metal housing duct and ventilation fans that I have heard. I think because the plastic amplifies sound less than metal fan housings. It's also quite efficient, although if you run it on 10 you're going to be pushing about 150+ watts, again higher than specs, but it is quite forceful if you need this kind of output. I will likely never take it above 7 which is in the neighborhood of 75 watts. To keep the fan dry I created a plywood hood covered with plexiglass, angle brackets and silicone. It fits in my window with a hole cut out for the fan to fit through. I engineered the roof of the hood at 45% slope to keep water and snow from collecting, and I added screening from home depot for the intake below to keep insects out. In this respect I can use it all year, although it's doubtful I will in the heat of summer. I also love the fact that it has bluetooth operations from my phone, and they actually have real people in their customer service department that are quite helpful. Recommended for the best possible window fan, provided you are handy with creating a hood. Also, likely very good if you are a grower or want it to move air from one area of your home to another.

Easy to boost HVAC flow to a hot room
Used to boost HVAC flow to an upstairs room over the garage that always is hotter than the others even with the door open. Instant fix and it can now be 5 degrees colder than the hallway on level 4 of 10! Super quiet, WiFi app to tweak adjustments, less than an hour to install having never touched HVAC stuff before. I had a 7” duct going to a 4x12” register. I used the 8” fan and some 8”-7” reducers, HVAC tape and some big zip ties. Should have done this years ago.

Great exhaust fan with a ton of features
I have this set up as an exhaust fan for my bedroom to create a nice cross breeze at night (same idea as a whole house fan without enough attic venting for a bigger fan). I have to max this fan out at level 5 based on the cfm to free netting in my attic (as it's connected from the room through ducting to the fan hanging from the rafters in the attic. It's the same noise level as my white noise machine at level 4 (I do have 2 90s in the ducting to cut noise) and moves a good amount of air. The temperature controller is fantastic! I set the temp I want the fan to cool the room down to and then have it set to step up/down in speed for each degree as it approaches the set point, so it will gradually work its way down to the temp I want and keep it there, usually at level 1 if it's just maintaining. I do wish the thermostat did some smoothing as the fan will change speeds every second or two as the thermometer updates, there needs to be some sort of averaging over at least a minute or two or more - maybe they can push a software update?

Works great!
Overall I’m really pleased with this fan. I’m building a post and beam house and there’s no room anywhere for an air handler system. This compact fan and filter box fit nicely under the stairs and can move a lot of air. The only issue is noise. The fan itself is quiet but the air is loud due to the ribbing of the flexible tubing which creates a lot of wind noise at higher settings. Overall it’s not a problem for us because we like white noise and can generally run the system at a lower setting. The WiFi control setup was easy and works great. For a DIY setup this works great.

Power Power Power - Jet Engine Power
I have installed this to help ventilate a Server Closet / Storage Closet. There's actually an HVAC return in the closet, however in the Spring and Fall months (now) the HVAC barely runs, and the servers need some extra help (there isn't dedicated cooling for the servers themselves. This helps circulate air between our closet and hallway. This unit I got to replace our original AC Infinity 6 Inch unit. For the time being I used an 8-inch to 6-inch reducer from AC Infinity to continue to use our 6 inch line. I imagine there is some slight performance reduction here, and there is some backdraft when the fan is maxed out (not going to use it this way). "Cons" - A couple observations so far: the original DC-based controller is soo much better than the new "Grow Tent" oriented controller that this came with. The Auto Function takes some tweaking, and while the fan does "ramp" up when it hits a trigger temperature, there's no ramp up before it hits the target temp - so the sensor HAS to hit your set temperature before than fan starts to ramp up. This is very different from our older T6 model that had a "Smart" fan control that would aim to maintain the desired temperature and ramp up the fan while the temp increased to the target. - Another annoyance with the controller is how the mount has been switched around. With the old controller, I simply cut out a whole in the wall and this fit right in. The new controller is surface mounted, and the wires come out the bottom. Now I have a large hole in the wall that I can't full cover up with the new controller because I need the cables to be plugged in. It would be nice if they figured out a way to make the controller reversible - give you a second faceplate that allows you to inset the controller in a wall or cabinet. "Pros" - This thing can move air. Obviously, a bigger fan will move more air. - The noise level is different. The factory rated noise specs are recorded at the lowest setting, but even stepping up the speed to 5 or 6, it still remains around 50-60 decibels (low enough to hold a conversation next to it). One thing I noticed is that the air itself makes more noise. This could be in part because I'm using a 6-inch duct for this 8-inch fan. - Another Pro is that the actual Motor Noise is much quieter. With the T6 line, I notice the motor would whine when it would ramp up, and was rather noticeable in other rooms when over half speed. With the T8, the motor noise is much less noticeable, and all you really hear is the noise of the air itself. This also means less vibration that you hear in the wall. I can have this thing cranked all the way up and next door it just sounds like the HVAC unit is on. Other Notes: - As some other folks pointed out, the fan is not actually a "DC" fan. From what I can gather (after taking it apart), is this is a high-frequency PWM AC fan - as the voltage readout on the fan connectors was all over the place. - Another thing I noticed (this is a pro for me) is that the 120volt AC line plugs right into the fan - the cable is actually hardwired into the unit itself - about an 8 foot cord. This means there's no bulky power brick to find a place for. - I have this hooked up to a UPS, so I can monitor power usage. At max it seems to draw around 160-170 watts.

This is the best fan and controller on the market today as of this post on April 10, 2020.
This is a great fan for tents and grow rooms up 10’x10’x6.5. It’s over kill for a 4’x4’x6.5’ but works superbly on fan speeds 1-4 without collapsing the ViperSpectra 4’x4’x6.5’ tent. Since I bought it I’m going to run two 4’x4’x6.5’ tents with the one fan and Filter. Andy from AC Infinity and I had a great talk on the phone about this idea. He confirmed that it will work due to the Hi CFM flow this 8” fan creates. Customer service is top notch! I won’t buy a fan from anyone else. The controller is very cool! It’s works as advertised and is made here in the States in California. It’s easy to figure out so don’t over think it. When installing the fan the directions say to use duct tape to help seal the filter to the fan. Duct tap is messy after it’s been on something for a while. I decided to use Black Electrical Tape. Four wraps around the flange where the filter connects and the same on ducting vent side. I think it makes a better seal than Duct Tape. It’s a clean look and won’t come off in pieces and chunks after sitting up in the heat for 16 weeks.

This thing just works!
Bought this to help balance out a poorly ducted HVAC system in my home. Installed it in a section of duct with the probe dropped in the intake side. I’m set upper and lower temp thresholds and it comes on within 44 seconds of the HVAC cycling on and shuts down about 2 mins after cycling off. Set the fan speed to 4. Anything above that creates a noise that becomes noticeable. However, 4 is plenty to move lots of air to the side of the house that is difficult to hear a cool. Works great and has changed the comfort of my entire house. Relatively cheap and easy solution to a problem most people would dread fixing.

Incredible
Do not cheap out on fans. Buy one of these. I've got a handful of cheap ebay fans in a pile in the garage and none come even remotely close to the cloudlines. You get what you pay for and these are an absolute testament to that. I've purchased 4 of the AC Infinity products now in varying sizes and every single product is a 10/10 including all the adapters/fittings they sell.

Go overkill for true silence.
Overall it is a great bit of technology, the smart features are invaluable. It is definitely NOT silent though. Past the 4th setting it begins being very noticeably "there" the higher you go (5-6-7-8-9-10) the louder it gets, until it just sounds like a jet engine. Make sure you don't have things laying around while you're testing it as it literally acts like a vacuum cleaner, will suck in your kid and your cat. Only buy this if it wont ever be running past 5th setting if you want quiet. Will work for small 4x4-5x5 spaces excellently. Another complaint is that on the pictures it is advertised with the controller 69, whereas I received the controller 67. The pictures are missleading.
