Any idea why, or how to fix?** A: Perhaps you do not have the other hands firmly on the mechanism. It can be tricky to get them all the way down. Try taking out the battery, take off each hand, and with the clock flat on a table and you standing up, press each hand firmly down (using your fingernails on opposite sides to get the force even) until it has been pushed into the proper level of the mechanism. Put each hand down at 12 and then set using the dial on the back (do not set the time by turning the hands themselves). Once it is set, put the battery in. How big does the hole in the clock have to be to fit the shaft?** A: I’m guessing about a1/4 β€œ **Q: I can not for the life of me get the hands onto the shaft. I press with all of my might, and only cut my thumbs but still could not force them on :(** A: The hand with the biggest opening goes on first. You need to press with both of your thumbs on either side (with your pointer fingers helping you pinch, so you keep each hand level). The shaft must be facing up, it is pretty much impossible to get them on if the clock mechanism is on its side rather than its back. It also helps to be standing up and leaning over the shaft so you are right on top of it. It is sort of like a layer cake, the hand with the biggest opening will go down to the top of the largest layer and stop. Then you add the hand with the next biggest opening, and so on. It isn't a matter of brute force, it is a matter of pressing on both sides at once and using finesse. You will feel it sort of "pop" on. Any angle and it will not go on at all. Once you get one on, it gets a lot easier because you get a sense of the feel of when it is on, rather than half perched on top without being truly on. It was frustrating for me, too, until I got it.
