Can this be added to an existing Ubiquiti access point setup?

Yes, Ubiquiti's AirMax AC wireless devices are built on the 802.11AC standard and offer higher wireless transmission rates. All AirMax AC wireless units from Ubiquiti are compatible with all legacy AirMax Ubiquiti devices. Being Backwards compatible you can replace your existing 5GHz 802.11a/n legacy Access Points with new 802.11ac products and your existing wireless clients will still be able to connect to it.
