Worked perfectly for my 2017 BMW 230i alongside a Viofo A229 Plus, way easier than running it to a fuse box or the battery terminal. Only powers on when the car is unlocked and hasn't phantom drained my battery or anything. Been working beautifully for a year now and took maybe 15 minutes to install, fits neatly inside the OEM BMW rear view mirror enclosure.

For BMW, ignore their proprietary 10pin connector & head for the red 3 pin buried back against the underside of the windshield after you remove the plastic cover. Needle nose pliers made it easy to pull out. I found it helpful to disconnect the black 10pin so I had room to work, simply plug it back in after you've confirmed functionality through the 3 pin. It took a little bit of trying to Nestle all of the components back under the plastic cover, but it works. I snipped two of the plastic bars on the bottom of the driver's side cover to allow the plug to snake through to power the dash cam (see pic). I've probably purchased 10 Dongar connectors over the years for various cars and various friends cars that I gifted dash cams. They make things SO easy compared to back in the day when I would tap into the wiring of the rear view mirror. I'm going to guess that this works for all of the BMWs with powered mirrors in this "generation" of design, which seems to be 2014-2018, but do your own homework. Mine is a 2017 F26 X4 M40i. I will continue to be a customer of this company, great product, great price, makes things easy and convenient. 5 stars all day.

Worked really well for several months, but then it overheated or something and would not stop turning on and off for days until I unplugged it for a few days. When I plugged back in, it worked perfectly for another couple of months, now it is doing it again. It is frustrating to have to take my rearview mirror apart to unplug and rest this. Buying a different brand now. Hope it works better.

Worked for my dash cam in my 2017 330i BMW. The power stays on for a bit after shutting the car off and turns on as soon as I unlock but it’s been a few months and doesn’t drain my battery or anything.

Installed this on my 2025 BMW i4. It was a bit scary taking off the plastic housing for the rear view mirror, but I watched a YouTube video and took it slow. It does not require much force to do, I made sure to be careful because I have a lease. This powered my Vantrue E1 Pro perfectly and the wires are very minimal. I snaked through the small wire from the plastic housing.

Amazing little adapter to install and power a dash camera in my 2015 435i. This was way easier than running to the fuser box like i used to. Just remove the plastic cover up by the mirror, unplug the 3 pin purple plug, and plug this inline. Super easy!

This works fine, but if you're tapping into an always on device, why have a status light on the USB adapter, especially if it's hidden from view? It's going to draw and waste power that isn't needed.

It's not advertised as compatible with VW so I was not sure, but all the other options would have arrived too late so I gambled, and it works great. I even managed to tuck the step down regulator behind the plastic trim, after some thought, so that all that is sticking out is a short USB C cable. It is on all the time, not ignition controlled, but in parking mode on my dashcam this is fine. I do not know if I used keyways 1 or 2 because they aren't labelled, I used the black cables not the pink/purple and blue. Update: I have also fitted one to my Dads VW Sharan 2022 and it also works perfectly there, it is also always on (not ignition switched) but his nextbase camera operates fine in parking mode with that setup. I might try to replace the regulator with one from a 2 wire hardwire kit, so that it will then have a low voltage cut out.

The product itself is great. Works flawlessly but newer BMWs keep power on in the rain sensor for over 10 minutes after turning off the car. This creates parasitic drain which messes up the battery management system and you get an error when you start the car that says "Start engine. Malfunction while shutting down the vehicle electronics when vehicle is stationary. If the problem recurs, have it checked by your service center." This error also disables your remote start feature on your car

Worked just fine for my BMW F31. I piggy backed the rear view mirror sensor to supply power for my new dashboard camera. The purple connector fits for that. 2.4 Volt rating was a concern (the camera is rated 2.5V), but it works. The power stays on for a few minutes after the ignition turned off. So, it will not drain the battery.

Works perfectly well on a '26 ID Buzz cargo. Splits from the rain sensor connection and provides permanent power for the vantrue E1. No doubt works for other cams. As per the pic,
