Review: Seems to Work Just Fine - I mean, I’m not going to deliberately spill something on the finished surface to see how well it works, now am I? I used this to seal a hearthstone (not a countertop). I picked it after reading a lot of reviews of sealers on desertcart. I followed the directions and made sure that it stayed wet for 10-15 minutes, to allow the sealer to soak in. After reading all the reviews, I was worried about the blemishes and cloudiness that some reviewers wrote about - but I saw nothing of the kind. At the end of the application time, I wiped it down with freshly laundered white sackcloth towels. It dried evenly, and looks good - not shiny (we definitely didn’t want glossy). Before using it on the hearthstone, I “experimented” by applying it to a small section of a marble table top (I flipped the top over and applied it to the underside) and also to an inconspicuous area on the side of the hearthstone, to see how it flowed during application, and to see if there would be any change to the color of the stone once the sealer dried (answer is “none”). That helped me be more confident when it came time to brushing the sealer on the top, wide area of the expensive, extremely heavy and hard to replace hearthstone. While I expect someday some with a glass of red wine is going to trip and spill it on the hearthstone, I’m not going to tempt fate and deliberately spill something on it, so I can’t actually say anything about that. Also just FYI, the directions for the product say to re-apply it in something like 3 -5 years. Not sure I’m going to remember to do that. Finally - it had virtually no smell at all, so that was a big plus.
Review: Good Stuff - Treated my two bath sinks and kitchen counters, all granite. Easy to apply, piece of cake. Use flood coat technique. Just keep the counter wet for 20 minutes (I went a half hour) using a cheap, small paint pad. Every time you see a spot dry, whip the pad over it, that's all. As time passes the counter will tend to stay wet, that means the the granite has absorbed all it can (which is what you want). Then wipe dry with paper towels. Done. No stink, no nasty solvent smells, but I kept the exhaust fans running. So far so good; actually, I can't tell it's on there, totally clear, does not change the patina of the counter color (which is good). [UPDATE]: December 2015: water still beads up on the counters, no stains, great shine. I think that the folks having problems are not following proper procedure; just do what I did and you will have good results on granite (I can't verify other types of materials). [UPDATE]: February 2018: water still beads up, there is still no staining of any kind on the counters/sinks. I use a little Windex once weekly to clean, and the shine comes up like they were new. I think this summer I will give it another quick coat, just for normal maintenance. Probably no one will read this because my first post is old, but thought I would post anyway :)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: slate**
A: Yes, It says right on the bottle it will protect slate. One word is all we need!

**Q: My granite countertops are dull and I don't know if they were ever sealed. Will this product give me the glossy granite look I am looking for?**
A: I used two products a cleaner http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00065W8DQ/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and this and my tables came out with a nice clean and natural shine. By natural I am not talking reflective of light, a shine similiar to the way a stone looks when you take it out of the water. The two products really made my tables beautiful without making the stone look fake and laminated. If you are truly wanting a gloss, I would agree that you might need a professional to come and seal it with something that will have that high shine. However for the price you could always try this first, if you have granite or stone stuff other areas of the house you can always use this there :)

**Q: does it make grout waterproof**
A: While this product will make stone and grout resistant to water and oil stains, it will not make the product waterproof.

**Q: Does this sealer have silicone in it? I was told to find a silicone-based sealer for my honed granite countertops, but am having a hard time.**
A: We are not aware of a good Stone or granite sealer on the market that utilizes silicone as an additive. Bulletproof is a great product for honed granite.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great sealer
*by J***W on April 10, 2013*

Love this sealer. I had used another one on my new granite countertops, but it was in a finger-spray bottle and my hand was cramping before I finished. And I used up the entire (expensive) bottle in one application and still missed things and had problems trying to prevent overspray. And even then I wasn't sure it was sealing properly Read very good reviews of this, so bought it. Also, I found out a better way to apply it. I used a latex glove on one hand. Poured a puddle of sealer in the middle of the counter and spread it with the gloved hand. I could easily go around edges and corners this way, and also easily detect dry spots where the sealer was absorbed instead of sitting on top and add more. Love this sealer. I had used another one on my new granite countertops, but it was in a finger-spray bottle and my hand was cramping before I finished. And I used up the entire (expensive) bottle in one application and still missed things and had problems trying to prevent overspray. Read very good reviews of this, so . This worked so very well, and it worked so much better than my original sealer. I'm now much more confident that I can cook in my kitchen and USE my countertops... after all, I bought them to use them, not just to look at them. I'll adjust this review in a year ... but so far I'm very happy with it. --- added a month later... It's a very good sealer against water. But wipe up any oil based spill right away. Oil will just continue to penetrate the stone and spread. I have kashmir white granite... One of the most porous (I've heard). So my experiences will be a 'worst case scenario'. My one bad oil ring that was left on the granite horrified me. Bt after a couple weeks, it kept penetrating and spreading, and now it's just a hard to see shadow on the granite that no one else can see. The one thing about this sealer is that it gives me time to wipe up the spill. I'm definitely going to continue to use it.
