Being plastic they wont dull my knife when cutting a steak. I am an odd ball and I like to cook and eat with my pocket knife, judge me how you will. I hate eating on ceramic plates and such because I don't like to dull up my blade against it. These plates seem to be the perfect solution. I have been using these for moths daily and they hold up to wear great. They aren't fancy by any means, but the black ones are pleasing enough to the eyes for casual use. You can drop them, feed your pets with them, hand the cups to small kids and not have care about them. They survive the microwave just fine, they don't seem to stain. They come out of my dishwasher clean every time and I don't pre-wash my dishes. They just survive whatever I want to use them for and are price to be fairly disposable if they do get ratty over time.
