Silent as a whisper and snappy
A lot has changed since the Mac mini M1 and to me the M4 is worth the upgrade, they removed firmware passwords and apparently the security is now locked to the iCloud / find my account. Apple intelligence is fun but not perfect but I didn’t get this for AI Pros: how silent is it, even running steam games like Neva and using a PlayStation controller via Bluetooth the system stays silent during game play. I love screen share, being able to use my phone that’s got a tiny screen, on to the bigger screen with the Mac mini where I can use the keyboard to type out emails is amazing and flawless. Apps open fast, I was able to install a virtual machine and run windows 11. The Mac version of steam was easy to install and quite a few of my games are available for Mac OS. I am hoping that I can encode and edit videos in 4k but I’ve yet to try this, handbrake should run for encoding. I am using mine with a Logitech keyboard and the keyboard doesn’t really work well as many of the keys are not mapped but that’s not apples fault. More and more games are being added for Mac and it really is a power horse for running games. For the money it’s not cheap but the base model can handle pretty much anything I throw at it. It has many features in iOS that I am used to. I would list cons but I can’t find any. It’s easier to use than windows and I am a long time windows user. I brought the mac as I’m fed up of windows echo system and with intel because of intel ME and the security risks that poses from bad actors. You can run windows and windows app on this mac if you want to there are guides on YouTube and running windows in a virtual environment is more secure anyway and there’s an option to run Linux, I had to pay a tenner for the virtual software from the apple App Store. My windows systems in probably going to sell, there’s no need for it in my opinion anymore, handbrake runs on Mac, makemkv does, steam and you can install other browsers like beave if you want to. The Mac mini M4 doesn’t take up much space and barely makes a whisper if space is tight or you like to travel with your Mac, this is a game changer for real. I had a few things I couldn’t figure out how to use so I spoke to apple support who guided me through the settings in no time. Please be sure to enable the firewall when you set it up, it’s disabled by default apparently. Update:having used this Mac to a while now it’s Amazing, it can encode videos really fast, 3 to 4 hours for a 4k video using the cpu, however if you opt for using the GPU it can encode that same video in roughly 30 - 40 mins and it doesn’t even get hot or break a sweat. It’s so much better than Microsoft systems that I sued in the past and with 10 cores and 16GB ram it’s really snappy and a good buy, you could throw that kind of money at a Intel system and not get the 10 core performance that you can get out of the Mac mini. Hands down the best system these days and easy to use

Powerful and Compact , A Brilliant Upgrade.
I have been using the Apple Mac mini with the M4 chip for a little while now, and honestly, it’s blown me away. It’s amazing how something this small can be so powerful. Everything just feels instant, apps open in a flash, multitasking is effortless, and even editing photos and videos runs buttery smooth. What I love most is how quiet it is. You can barely tell it’s on, even when it’s working hard. It also connects perfectly with my iPhone and iPad, making everything feel super seamless. For its size, it’s an absolute beast, compact, fast, and reliable. Definitely worth it if you want a powerful desktop without the bulk and are into the Apple ecosystem.

Excellent upgrade for non-technical users – base model is more than enough
I bought the Mac mini as a gift for my girlfriend’s dad, who isn’t tech-savvy at all, and it’s been a really positive experience so far. He was upgrading from an older Mac with the built-in screen, and the difference for him has been night and day. Everything feels faster, smoother, and far more responsive, without him needing to understand or change anything about how he uses a computer. From a usability point of view, it’s been completely straightforward, which is exactly what you want when buying tech for someone who just wants it to work. It uses thunderbolt 5 too so that makes connectivity easy with just 1 cable, looks so sleek and when paired with the right screen, basically just turns it into an iMac screen. One of the biggest strengths of the Mac mini is the value it offers for everyday use. The base model is more than sufficient for typical tasks like browsing, email, documents, and general day-to-day computing. In my opinion, this is where the best value lies. Once you start adding extra storage or memory, the price climbs quickly, and that’s where buyers are more likely to question whether it was worth it. For most people, buying the base version and seeing how you get on makes far more sense. It’s also worth mentioning the size and flexibility. The Mac mini is compact and easy to fit into almost any setup, and there are VESA mounting options available if you want to attach it to the back of a monitor for a really clean, uncluttered desk setup. After a couple of weeks of use, feedback has been consistently positive. It’s easy to use, reliable, and feels like a machine that will comfortably last for years without becoming frustrating or outdated. Overall, this is a great option if you’re upgrading an older Mac or buying for someone who doesn’t care about technical specs but wants something fast, simple, and dependable. Stick with the base model unless you know you genuinely need more, and it’s hard to go wrong. Great buy!!!

I've just ordered my second MacMini M4 from Amazon. The first was ordered from Apple as a refurbished Mac Mini for the same price as the brand new one just ordered from Amazon! Anyway they work super fast, and are incredibly small in physical size. A complete no brainer if you're in the market for a new computer! I've ordered base models and after market I TB SSD's. There are a number of videos on youTube that show how to install the upgrade SSD's.

Bought the mini Mac m4 and I could not get the wifi to work. I have a lot of experience with mini pcs and have never run into problems with the wifi. If you check online there are lots of negativity around the wifi on this m4 Mac. In my opinion this should not have been released in its current state. I have returned this to Amazon and have received a refund.
