Excellent product that definitely works very well. Be warned, they're definitely a shin destroyer. But... you absolutely will not slip off them.

Well designed, keeps me and the kids safe on our bike
really awesome design, you can remove Spd from one side or both if you want, the only pain in the ass is that you have to install all the barbs by hand, which takes time...lots of time. Comes with a great charge to charge up all the lights at once. The lights intuitively turn off when you're not riding. Increases visibility in traffic.

🚲 Unmatched Design & Quality! 🚲
They've thought about almost everything with these light-up bicycle pedals. For starters, they somehow know which way they are facing, so the light facing the front of the bike will always be white and the light facing the back of the bike will always be red. Then, the lights have three different modes, and when they are off the first button press turns on the steady light, the second button press switches to flash, the third button press switches to EcoFlash, and then pressing the button again after that switches to the steady light again. To turn each of the lights off, the button must be held down for a couple of seconds. Once you have the lights on the pedals and they are all turned on though, you don't have to touch them again until it's time to recharge them. This is because they automatically turn on and off. Just keep in mind that removing a light from the pedal automatically turns it off, and when it's put back in it will have to be turned on by pressing the button again. But anyway, when the lights are in the pedals and they are turned on, after 30 seconds without sensing any movement, the lights will turn off and enter STANDBY mode. Then, from standby mode, they'll turn back on when LIGHT movement is sensed. Beyond that, after not sensing movement for 150 seconds, the lights will enter SLEEP mode. Then, from sleep mode, they'll turn back on when HEAVIER movement is sensed. I don't know exactly what the difference IS between "light" and "heavier" movement, but once you start pedaling they should turn on no matter what. Just keep in mind that the lights will eventually turn themselves off completely after going into sleep mode and staying there for 24 hours. If that happens they will need to be turned back on by manually pressing their buttons. Also, removing a light from a pedal will turn it off completely, and it will have to be turned on manually when it's put back into the pedal. Here are some other main things to know about these pedals. The light modules take about 2 hours to charge. If something were to happen to the 4 in 1 charging hub that's included, the lights can still be charged individually by inserting them into any regular USB-A port. As for the light's running time on a full charge, they can last for about 36 hours alright, but that's only for the EcoFlash mode. They can last for about 11 hours on flash mode. And then for steady light mode, they only last for about 3 hours. On the rear of each of the clipless mechanisms, there is a tension adjuster that can be turned with a 3 mm hex wrench. Turning it in a clockwise direction increases tension, which gives it a MORE secure shoe/pedal connection, and makes it HARDER to engage and disengage. Turning it in a counter-clockwise direction decreases tension, which gives it a LESS secure shoe/pedal connection, and makes it EASIER to engage and disengage. There are many other things that I could touch on, but my review is already pretty long. And so, if you're looking for information that I didn't mention, you might want to look for and read the review by Doug M. It is quite thorough. Especially if weight is important to you. And if it is, I can at least tell you that it's possible to reduce the weight of these pedals by a good bit. Because you can remove the light modules, the parts on the front and back of the pedals that house the light modules (the wings/cages), AND you can also remove the clipless mechanism from one side of each of the pedals.

Great quality, modularity, and visibility, but heavy and pretty expensive
Even without the lights, these are very high-quality pedals. They're chunky, with perfect machining and very smooth bearings. They also appear to be rebuildable. It's clear that Redshift wanted to make good pedals that also light up, instead of just something gimmicky. I really love how modular they are, too. This set comes with the SPD brackets, but also includes enough pins to cover both sides of each pedal if you'd rather run them as flats. They're the type that screw in from the top with a special star-shaped wrench, M4x0.7 thread. I've been running them like this so far, as I don't yet have SPD shoes, and traction has been excellent. The platform is very large, rivalling a lot of MTB pedals. The side effect of this is weight. The pedal bodies themselves, with no SPD brackets, pins, or lights come in at 250g each per pedal. Add about 36g per SPD bracket, 7g for pins on one side, and 51g for both lights. That means you're looking at ~375g per pedal with both SPD brackets and both lights installed, or ~315g with pins and lights. Pretty heavy, but you don't really feel it when pedalling. On a heavy commuter bike kitted out with racks and lights, it probably doesn't make a difference anyway. I didn't weigh them without the 'wings' attached, as I don't plan to ever run them that way. As for the lights, they're very bright and definitely draw attention with your pedal strokes. Modes are solid, or two different speeds of flashing. It's very cool how they know what color they should be, based on which pedal they're in and which way is up. It's all done through magnets, which work well and hold the lights securely. My only complaint is they go to sleep after only thirty seconds, which is too short if you're waiting at a stop sign or traffic light. They do wake up instantly, though, but visibility while stopped is important. Shutting them off involves holding the power button, which can be tedious with four separate lights. Or, you can just slide them slightly out of the pedal until they shut off. They go into a deeper sleep after two and a half minutes, and fully shut off after 24 hours. Charging the lights is pretty easy. Each has a tongue on the end which fits a USB-A port. A Redshift-branded USB hub is included to charge all at once from a single port. While I wish these supported USB-C (could be doable with a different hub?), I can see why they'd go with A for ease of manufacture. My only real concern is that the leaf springs in the USB port will slowly wear away the lights' plastic casing. Installation is done with an 8mm hex wrench, there are no wrench flats on the spindle. No tools are included (aside from a wrench for the pins), which I prefer as I don't need more junk disposable hex wrenches clogging up my junk drawer. All of the other screws are various sizes of Torx. So, if you can deal with the weight, there's no real downsides, right? Well... at two hundred bucks they're priced very high. It's really tough to say if that's a good value or not. On one hand, there's nothing else on the market with this amount of modularity, or with such well-designed lighting, and they're very sturdy. A good set of MTB flats is going to run around $150 anyway, but will be much lighter. With these, you get the ability to run SPD shoes, plus you greatly enhance the nighttime visibility of your bike. The price still stings, but I don't think they're entirely overcharging. Keep in mind that Redshift does also sell these as flats without the SPD brackets for cheaper, and that's probably a better option unless you specifically want to run cleats. If you find yourself riding at night in busy areas frequently, want to have foot retention, and don't mind dropping the cash, I don't think there's much to complain about here.

Another great REDSHIFT product
The Arc Light pedals are great for anyone that does night riding of any sort. It helps significantly with visibility. It will help to be visible to others on foot or riding a bike. It is great for being visible to motor vehicle drivers too. It can also help illuminate your path, so you can see better too. The pedals are going to improve safety wherever you go. The pedals are well made and durable. The parts and components are top quality. They are quite weighty when all put together. That's probably the only negative. The good news is that it can be stripped down to just the clipless mounts. That's a great feature! I would compare the clipless mounts to the Shimano design for clipless pedals. It's not too difficult to assemble and disassemble. The lights are long lasting and quick charging. They can slip in and out of the pedals for charging or disassembly. There is an included USB charger made to work with the unusual style. It will work with USB inputs too. The really cool thing about the lights is that they turn on as soon as you start pedaling. It senses the movement, and goes into a sleep mode when not in use. They are weatherproof, so they work in the rain and other wet conditions. They will work in the cold too. These pedals are very inventive, and it is always top quality coming from REDSHIFT. I own the kitchen sink handlebars and the suspension seat post. They are amazing products, and they have made my riding much more enjoyable. These pedals are a bit pricey, but the top quality parts and components, the inventive design are unmatched. I highly recommend these pedals to any night rider regardless of your skill level. Thanks!

Niche product
Pros: - Outstanding fit and finish - Plenty bright, smart features are helpful - Can switch between single side clipless or dual sided flat - Included charging hub so it only takes 1 usb port Cons: - Heavy, not for weight weenies - Traction studs are pretty short, not as grippy as something like raceface chesters - Have to charge each module (4 total) and turn them on every time - As far as I can tell, no way to adjust clipless tension Comments: I have to say, it is an extremely luxurious product. However, I hate to say it but it is probable not for most people. I'd say it's best on commuter/e-bikes/cargo bikes and only if you regularly ride at night. And also, it's pretty annoying having to keep all of the batteries topped up. If there was some way these could be dynamo powered, it would be a game changer.

A Beautiful Marriage of Form and Function Designed with Safety in Mind.
Certainly, one of the many interesting aspects of the Arclight Pro Clipless Pedal is the designer, manufacturer and distributor of the pedal, the company itself, Redshift Sports. A perusal of the company’s website reveals the following statement, quoted from the sites “About” page, “Redshift Sports was founded in 2013 by a team of mechanical engineers who also happen to be avid cyclists.” This explains the insightful design aesthetic, functionality, choice of materials and the precise fabrication tolerances of the Arclight Pedal. Along with a brief description of the company can be found amusing anecdotes of the principles. A close inspection of the Arclight pedals makes obvious a magnificent marriage of form and function; they are an objet d’art in their own right and would be just at home in the MOMA’s design department as they are attached to the crankset of a bicycle. Moreover, they’re more versatile than at first might be thought. Keeping in mind that the design objective of the Arclight Pedal is to provide enhanced visibility, and consequently, more safety, consideration of their weight was by necessity secondary to these considerations; the pedals are built for durability, for heavy duty, and not with a focus on saving weight. The Arclight Pedals are for those that may be riding in heavily trafficked urban environments, at night, on narrow roadways, group riding, and the like, anywhere increased visibility is desired. Suffice it to say, they aren’t meant to be light weight road racing pedals. The Arclight Pro Pedals incorporate modern, convenient technology. Each of the four LEDs, two per pedal, slide in and out of carrier cages where they’re held in place by strong magnets. The LEDs incorporate smart technology that illuminates them automatically when they detect motion and turn them off when they don’t. Each of the four LEDs fit interchangeably into any of the four cages, automatically keeping the forward motion side of the pedal bright white and the rear facing LED red; other than a choice of three lighting modes, no adjustments are required by the user. According to Redshift, the LEDs have a battery life of 36-hours in eco-flash mode. “Steady” mode provides 3+ hours and “Flashing” mode 11+. A charger with quadruple charging ports is provided so that all of the lights can be charged concurrently. The Arclight Pro Clipless Pedal is Redshifts top-of-the-line pedal and as such, has a number of versatile configurations depending on the rider’s needs. Obviously the four magnetically held LEDs can be removed, however the cages in which the lights are held can be fully removed as well, leaving a standalone, two-sided SPD pedal. To lighten up that configuration even further, the SPD clamp can be removed from one side, leaving a one-sided SPD pedal, the Arclights lightest configuration. The pedal configured without cages and lights, with double-sided SPD clamps, weighs in at 223gr; by comparison the lightest pedals I own weigh 140gr each. I didn’t weigh the Arclight with just one SPD clamp, but it will be lighter than 223gr. The release tension adjustment bolt, located on each of the four SPD clamps, is rotated with a 3mm Allen key; a 6mm Allen key is needed to install the pedals. For removing the LED cages, a #25 TORX bit will be required, while a #10 is used to remove the SPD clamps. Other than a small wrench used to install and uninstall the provided flat pedal grip pins, no other tools are included. Another configuration that reduces the weight of the Arclight pedals substantially is the removal of one or both SPD clamps, thereby leaving a two-sided flat pedal with cages, gripping pins if installed and LEDs, an especially appealing setup for commuting or recreational rides over a relatively flat course. In any situation, the Arclight Pro Pedals have a setup for everyone and can be reconfigured based on need. Redshift also sells a version of the Arclight Pro pedal sans LEDs, presumably to be mounted on a second bike, allowing the lights to be quickly switched between the two. The Arclight Pedals are beautifully designed and fabricated by Redshift Sports, an American small business located in Philadelphia. Specifically, the design intent is to increase rider visibility and safety while traveling on a bicycle. As Redshift points out, the biomechanical motion of pedaling attracts the notice of oncoming drivers, provides 360° of lighting and identifies the rider as a cyclist. It can’t be argued that being safer while riding a bicycle isn’t better, so if safety is a priority, then the Arclight Pro Bicycle Pedals are an excellent choice; a value can’t reasonably be assigned to safety. Redshift Sports warrants the Arclight Pro Pedals for life; yours or theirs, whichever expires first. Just don’t let yours expire because someone didn’t see you.

Game changer for commuters or otherwise
These paddles have near magical smartness built in them. The lights facing the front always light up white and the ones facing rear light up in red, always. That alone is selling point for me. Apart from that smartness, just like every other Redshift item (I have stem, handlebar etc) these pedals are extremely well built, offer unmatched functionality and look fantastic while doing all that. Also, this is the PRO version so you get extra benefit of using you SPD cleat shoes and you can adjust how easy or difficult you want to unclip just like any other SPD pedal set. The main draw of this product though is the LED lights as added safety feature for those commuting in the dark and to that effect those LEDs work absolutely beautifully. Really, while adding a bright tail lamp and head lamp on the helmet is a good idea, once you have used these pedals in the dark you will not go back. My wife saw me ride my bike in the dark from a distance. When I came home her first reaction was "those pedals are super bright!!". The only thing that I can complain about is the price. But the quality, fit and finish and usefulness of the whole thing make it quite a worthwhile purchase.

Get them!
They’re expensive, but they’re amazing, been doing night riders on my MTB in the holiday season lit up like a Christmas tree. Loads of people have asked where I got them from. They aren’t overly heavy either so I’m quite happy. Cool note that I was able to remove the clips therefore converting them to flat. Quite cool for when I’m on the e-bike!

Excellent visibility
This is an excellently engineered set of pedals. I like the flexibility, I’ve set mine up for flat shoes on one side and clip in on the other. I have an hour commute and both morning and evening rides are done in the darkness during winter months. Having had a close call at a roundabout decided that I needed to increase my side and front visibility. These lights are exceptional at this. When I wrote this review, there was another but it’s quite inaccurate. You can adjust the clip in, initially I made it too loose and able to adjust it so it’s easy to clip in and out quickly without too much effort. It comes with a 4 device USB charger, so you can charge them all at once. I have mine on flash mode and just charge them once a week. Could probably get away with longer. This is a great product for any who cycles in the dark
