Exercise Wheel, Gen 7, Safe 48” Diameter, Made in the USA

I have two 10+ year old cats. I was focusing on training one at a time, with the chunkiest first, who happens to be the alpha. I was doing the treat thing like I saw in the training video, and and he'd get on the wheel and lay down waiting for me to move the treat closer to him. He may occasionally take a step or two, but then lay down again. This went on for the first 2 days, a couple of times a day. It seemed like it was going to be a long process. On day 3, I got home from work, immediately tried to do a bit of training with the welcome home treats, and had the same results as above... maybe even worse, zero steps. I didn't press the issue. Eventually, Later, when I was sitting on the nearby couch, the two cats started having a bit of a mad moment with the alpha chasing the other. Quite unexpectedly, he turned one of those chases into a leap onto the wheel, where he continued his run. Of course I praised him and gave him a treat, and he continued the walking/running for a few minutes. Video attached. I don't know if that was his first time he'd had success or if he'd figured it out when I wasn't home earlier in the day. As I write this, it's day 7 and he goes on it every day at least for a few minutes in the morning when I'm getting ready for work, then again a couple of times in the evening when I get home. Not sure what he does when I'm out. He looks at me expectantly when he stops, as though he wants praise and a treat which I usually give. He really gets quite a canter going at times and I can see that feral side of him coming out as his ears go back as though he's in a chase for prey. He seems quite content after a few sprints. The other cat isn't interested yet, even with the lure of treats (that's him in the background on the video). I will point out that I decided to put it in a prominent spot in my living room to encourage usage, but that happens to be beneath the ceiling fan which the other cat is very cautious of, even when it's off. I'll consider moving it after a week or so and seeing if it makes a difference. Word of caution, these wheels are quite big as you can see in the video. I knew it was 48 inches diameter, but that didn't quite register in my minds eye until I saw it in my living room next to everything else. I do have a good amount of space elsewhere in my house to put it, but I don't want to do that just yet at the risk of him losing interest. I'll figure that one out later. :-) It was pretty easy to assemble (took me 20-30 mins) and seems quite sturdy. I do wonder if the pads that you stick on the inside get worn and tatty. I'm sure I can replace them. All in all, so far so good. Alpha is a bit calmer, less needy, and hopefully getting healthy as a result of all this.

BEST design of all the One Fast Cat generations of cat exercise wheels! We have 4 active cats, and own two Gen 5 wheels, 1 Gen 6 wheel, and now this new Gen 7 wheel. The Gen 7 wheel has significant improvements… EASY to assemble! This is by far the easiest One Fast Cat wheel to assemble. Prior generations were easy, but still took 30-45 minutes to put together. This Gen 7 exercise wheel took less than 15 minutes to assemble. Thank goodness, because our 4 cats have zero patience and love their wheels! WHEELS are simplified and don’t require fine-tuning or tightening. No more bolts, ratchets, or any tools needed! The only thing we needed was some heavy-duty scissors to open the plastic packaging for the wheels. The wheel axles were an unbelievably easy “push and click” breeze to install. The BASE is upgraded, sturdy, and sleek, and the best of all of the One Fast Cat wheels. The wobble and shake is almost non-existent in this new Gen 7 wheel base, even with our chonky boy running sprints, and with two cats running together. The 4 inline wheels are integrated into the base now (no wheel covers needed, and no more misalignment, or inconsistent wheel tension), which may have improved the overall sturdiness of the wheel. So QUIET! Especially compared to the Gen 5 wheel, this Gen 7 wheel is a MASSIVE improvement. Our original wheels (before upgrading the bases) were very noisy, but this newest design is at least 50% quieter. The prior generations were probably comparable to 80db, and the Gen 7 is at most 40db. The LOOK! Wow! The new Gen 7 wheel has a new, stylish, modern design, with fun new track pad designs, or durable felt pads. I was really impressed with how easy this was to put together. No tools were needed and everything seemed to fit together and work properly. When it first started rotating, however, the edge was rubbing on the wheels on one side and was causing a loud squeak. It’s gotten better after being used so maybe just needed to get broken in? My 2 y.o. Bengal has never been on one before but with the help of her favorite toy was able to get a few good runs in on our first night with the wheel! Maybe she’ll sleep through the night!

I assumed it would take awhile to train my cat to use the exercise wheel but I watched the training video and she was a pro on day two! She does most of her "zoomies" on the wheel and it is incredibly quiet. Great investment.

Seems well made and sturdy. Only one of our cats is into it, unfortunately. The wheel was easy to assemble and easy to move for cleaning, etc.

There are some safety concerns others have already wrote reviews about that I agree with so please read those. I'm going to talk about the look. My cats like it just fine but it's a large piece of furniture in your home so you want it to look nice. The outer wheel is unfinished. You can see the this if you zoom in on the photos at an angle BUT only one of the photos shows it so you really have to look closely. Also look at the inside of the stand. Overall, it's ugly. For the price, I would have expected thin plastic covers to snap on to make the product look finished/nice. It's really an eye sore. I bought white adhesive felt squares to stick on the outside of the wheel and the inside of the base. This makes the product over $200 which is a crazy amount of money for an unfinished plastic wheel. It's really disappointing. Do better.

We are actually so happy we purchased this. I was worried we would have the two cats that would completely ignore this. but to my pleasent surprise they both have learned to use it, one is a little possesive of it but they do share. our cats dont race full bore at mach 10 unless we use a laser light to give them "prey" to chase, however they often jump in and just walk for a bit. We used possitive reinforcment with verbal attenion and petting during the teaching phase so somtimes when we walk in the room one of them will jump in the wheel and walk or run while meowing to say "hey look at me im amazing... pet me!!!" We live in a apatment and have indoor animals so my desire was to have at least somwhere where they can run for longer than 100 feet if they need to use ther feline energy, to that end this wheel is PERFECT. very happy this worked out beacause it was an expensive purchase for us. oh by the way it is a bit large at first sight but its narrow and we have our against the wall about 8 inches awat so they can sidomunt either side and it doent really take up as much space at oput firt thoughts. and lastly my opinion about the large size... it is important for cats over 2 years old, when they run inside it you will immediatly see it would have been a big mistake to buy a smaller diameter wheel.

I recently moved into a pretty small apartment after previously having a lot of property to walk my cats. I was really apprehensive about buying this for them, but needed to give them an outlet for energy since they are pretty active. What if they didn't like it? Once this wheel snaps together, I cannot imagine it would be very easy to disassemble for returns. Do I wanna take that risk?... It's a relief to say I'm glad I bought it. My boys FIGHT over using it! Yes it does wobble a little and I'm not sure why, but it doesn't seem to bother my cats at all. My smaller one runs at full speed on it with no issues. I appreciate its streamlined appearance and lightweight build. It's very easy to move around for sweeping and vacuuming; I simply scoot the base with my foot. The sound is much MUCH quieter than many of the other cat wheels I've seen elsewhere. Lastly, I read another reviewer say something about the smell of the pads, and for the life of me cannot figure out what the heck they are talking about. There is no smell. I have a VERY sensitive sense of smell and am the type that gets smell-induced migraines. This product does not put off any odor; not even the felt pads. Speaking of, I really like that the pads can be removed and changed out as needed. I didn't know when I purchased this that it would become a favorite scratcher/stretcher for my cats before walking or running. 10/10 would buy again!
