Garant APP30KD Alpine 30-Inch Poly Blade Snow Pusher-Yellow

I love this shovel but I had no idea it came with 3 feet of snow!!! Seriously though, this winter was horrible and I'm glad I bought this early in the season. This shovel lays very nicely on the ground so works great for shoveling pavement and grass/dirt surfaces. If you use your shovel for grassy areas this can't be beat. It shovels a large path and moves lots of snow but is easily maneuverable. High quality handle and durable plastic. I expect to have this shovel for years. (unfortunately!!!) *Update* I just broke this shovel today. And it was completely my fault. I would turn it upside down occasionally to scrape snow and I caught some hard ice and it cracked. 8 years out of a shovel I paid 32 dollars for is pretty amazing. I just ordered a different model from Garant because I found the 30 inch blade picked up a lot of snow and I just have the back for it anymore. NPM18KD is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you Amazon, these are not available locally.

Revised to 5 stars after using the snow pusher 2 winter seasons. It is sturdy, light and pushes 1-2" snow with ease. Very good with higher snow drifts but as you know, that is hard to push - so it's a fine shovel too. It leaves a slight film of snow on CONCRETE driveways because it does not have a steel blade on the edge. When I unpacked it I read the sticker that said it was "Perfect for WOOD and INTERLOCK surfaces". If they said this on the online description I would have bought the Garant with a steel blade. I need it for a concrete driveway not a wood patio where a metal blade would scratch the surface. My past poly blades get worn and chipped with concrete & asphalt surfaces but the Garant is still in great shape. It is well made and comfortable to use. Garant sells other models with a steel blade on the edge, look for that one if you want a steel edge.

** Update ** We've had about a week of sub freezing temps with night at or below 0*F and periods of light to moderate snow. I've used the new pusher several times, and it has worked better than I first thought. As I've used it, the blade has worn so that it scrapes snow more evenly. The flexible blade still has a hard time scraping a thin layer of packed snow, but it actually works better than a stiffer blade with a packed snow layer at least 1/2" thick. Then the flexible blade can get up under the layer and pop up pieces that can be pitched away. Therefore, I'm upgrading my review to 4 stars. The pusher isn't what I hoped it to be, but I'm coming to appreciate it's unique abilities. ** My original review ** I ordered one of these to try, hoping to love it and order a couple more. Unfortunately, I feel this is an average pusher with both good and bad points. The good: - It is wider than most pushers - It has a nice handle and D-grip The bad: - The blade is hooked at the top and dumps the snow right in front of the blade. This causes snow to build up quickly to the point that it has to be shoveled (lifted and tossed), which slows the work and requires more effort. - The blade is flexible enough that it's hard to scrape up packed snow, such as where a car ran over it. Fortunately, the blade scrapes well when turned upside down, but that causes improper blade wear. I'll keep and use it, but it won't be a favorite. In the 1990's I bought a couple of Ames snow pushers that featured a wide (24-26", maybe?) stiff poly blade that had an even curvature on the blade. This picked up the snow, lofted it up, and pitched it forward up to 8-10 feet. This worked great for clearing a few inches -- it was fast and easy. You just had to make sure you weren't shoveling into the wind, or else the lofted snow would blow back onto you. To me, this was the perfect pusher, except that it had no D-handle. Alas, however, everyone now puts a hook in the top of their blade which prevents the snow from lofting.

Excellent shovel. Minimal resistance to the concrete. I buy the model that does not have a steel edge. I get about 15 or 20 miles of sidewalks per shovel. Just use a box knife to sharpen it when the edge curles up. Trust me here, I have been running a snow removal service for 40 years. This is the best pusher by far. It's not bad for lifting lighter snow either.

I ordered this snow shovel to replace the one I wore out last year. It arrived almost a week early and required some assembly which was easy. At first I was worried because the unit delivered was red, not yellow as described and as my previous versions had been. Thankfully when I compared to my previous snow shovel it was dimensionally the same, just red in color. I don't know why my local Ace Hardware did not stock these in 2025, but suspect it might be because of the crazy tariffs on Canada. Anyway I paid quite a bit more than last year to obtain a replacement for my favorite Garant snow shovel. I have tried every other make and model of snow pusher/shovel and none of them are as easy to use. This one works well on my concrete driveway - it just glides over the surface - and is sufficient for a light snowfall of a couple inches - anything more I will run my snow blower. As noted I fully expect to wear down the blade here in Colorado snow country in one season and wish I could buy a replacement blade each year. After having used this shovel a few times, I notice the red blade seems to be a stronger, stiffer material, so maybe it will not wear out as quickly. I still works well for my concrete driveway.

I can't see using this for anything more than a couple inches of fluffy powder,at best.As I inspected the shovel closer,I noticed the connection of the poly blade to the handle,is a bit loose.And,there is no steel wear strip on the blade,as was advertised in the description.I finally got a chance to use this pusher today(Feb 22,2011).We got a nice little storm here,about six-seven inches of wet/slushy snow.The pusher performed well,got the job done fairly quick.No doubt,today's snow was a bit much for the pusher to handle.The snow piled up on the blade rather quickly,making it quite heavy.I had to stop every few feet,to toss the snow off the blade.A powdery/fluffy two-four inch snow,is probably best for this pusher,given its lightweight construction.That said,I'm pleased with the results.And,I have a clean driveway,now! Would be better with the "steel wear strip",it was SUPPOSED to have! As for the "loose blade" problem...I contacted the people at "Garant".After about a week,I finally got a response as to how to rectify the loose blade.If your blade is a bit loose at the handle,here's what you should do.I did this today (Feb 17,2011) and it worked perfectly....... Stand the shovel up,blade facing toward the ceiling,Dgrip handle facing down toward the floor.Lift the shovel straight up,about two inches or so.Grasp the blade firmly,with each hand on either side of the blade.Once you have a firm grip of the blade,in a quick motion,push the handle straight down,with the Dgrip handle hitting the floor.Don't be afraid to add a little force,while pushing down on the handle.If you do this properly,you will hear a "SNAP" type noise.No more loose handle! Your pusher is now ready to push snow.I hope this helps!

I have had this same shovel for 15 years. It finally broke a couple of years ago due to abuse, pushing on the top of it with my foot to get under hard snow or ice. In my judgment, the molded plastic on this is very sturdy. The breaking of the previous one was wholly due to my abuse. This type of shovel is great for clearing 1 to 4 inches of snow on a paved drive way, wide enough to make a difference but not so wide as to catch too much snow. While the price may seem high for what one might expect to pay for a snow shovel in stock at a physical store, I simply haven't seen one in a store for a long time. A great aspect of Amazon is that one can purchase this shovel without all the running around to physical stores to find one. Even if I had found one, the cost of running around would have been greater than any price premium. Also, the handle on the new shovel is fatter, which makes it more comfortable on the hand when pushing snow.

I have been looking for a larger shovel like this and no one around carries them. It came just in time for the first snow fall. I'm 6ft and this is just perfect for pushing snow. Notice I said PUSHING SNOW. I always push the snow to the edge and then lift it with a smaller shovel as not to strain. It takes no time at all to clear the driveway. If there is a lot of snow I would breakout the snow blower. This is one of my best purchases. So whatever negative reviews you read be sure to read between the lines. Only time will tell if it will hold up but from what I see it is built very good. UPDATE: 1/11/14 - Still a great purchase. Tested many times.Love it.

The angle of attack is poor for pushing a large pile if you want to scrape the ground.
