## Description

Product description Leatherjackets are larvae of Crane Flies (Daddy Long Legs) and damage lawns by feeding on grass roots, leading to yellowing of the grass and patchy lawns. Lawns suffer secondary damage when Leatherjackets are present, as animals (badgers, or birds) feed on the larvae; and rip the lawn in the process. Naturally control your Leatherjacket infestation with our Steinernema species nematodes, deadly to the Leatherjacket larvae but safe to humans and wildlife. The nematodes enter the larvae via a natural opening, like the mouth, and feed on the larvae. A natural bacterium is produced by the nematodes inside the larvae, which kills it. The nematodes reproduce inside the larvae, releasing more nematodes into the area. Use two applications of nematodes each year, once in the spring (February to April) and once in the summer (August to early September). You should closely monitor soil temperatures and the presence of the Crane Flies to time these applications. Choose a humid or wet day to apply your Leatherjacket Killer Nematodes. Nematodes are UV-sensitive and will not survive long when exposed to bright, sunny conditions. Apply the nematodes early in the morning or early in the evening to utilise optimum humidity levels. Avoid application in frosty conditions. Soil temperatures should be above 10℃ for the nematodes to be active, if applying in the spring. Spike and scarify the lawn before application. The lawn also needs to be moist for application.1 Empty contents of your 25 million sachet of nematodes into a bucket or container of 2.5 litres of water and mix thoroughly. 2 Fill your watering can (fit with a coarse rose), or sprayer (hand held sprayers suffice with filters removed) with the mixed 2.5 litres of nematode concentrate and add another 5.5 litres of water so you are left with 8 litres of nematode solution. 3.Spray your lawn with the solution. Keep lawn moist for 2 weeks after application. Repeat application 7 days later. Full instructions provided on delivery. Legal Disclaimer You can store unopened nematode packs in a fridge but it is best to ensure you apply your nematodes as soon as possible for the best results.

A bit difficult to dissolve but extremely effective. Just use the recommended small amounts, diluting correctly. Then add a small amount of water to the residue mixing thoroughly and throw on to the lawn.

This works but you have to use it more than once. Used it back at the beginning of the summer and although the grass recovered we were infested with daddy long legs at the end of September and had to treat it again. We have been told that daddy long legs have a 3 year cycle so although, once again, the lawn is looking ok there are probably things lurking in the soil that will rear their ugly heads again next spring. Easy to use but I’m guessing we will be doing it a few more times before we have totally eliminated the problem.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Going back to the roots

A couple of years ago I laid a lawn from scratch with seed. The following year though I did notice patches but thought nothing of it so I put some more seed down to fill the patches, year after that I experienced more patches and I was puzzled as one year it is fully green but the next year it was yellow and patchy. I investigated and I noticed some maggot looking creatures under the patchy lawn and I was told they are Leather Jackets, as I am new to this Gardening this is something you learn along the way as if I already known about this you can treat your lawn right from the start so I purchased this product to hopefully help with the remedy of getting my lawn back to how I had it. I have used this in Late April as the weather is warmer and as long as you follow the instructions on applying it in moist and warm soil conditions over 10 Degrees C and finger crossed this product will work and I know it will need to be purchased again and re applied in August to October and next year will determine weather this has worked.
