## Description

desertcart.com: Keychron B1 Pro Ultra-Slim Wireless ZMK Custom Keyboard, Programmable Bluetooth/2.4 G/Wired Lightweight with 1200-Hour Long Battery Life Quiet Key for Mac/Windows - Space Gray : Electronics

Review: Two weeks in and so far a great keyboard! - Writing this after a little over two weeks and I’m glad to report I'm really liking the keyboard! I’m still getting used to the feel and layout change from my previous keyboard but I’d say it’s nearly perfect in the limited space of compact scissor switch keyboards and the price is right where it should be! In the box: Included in the box with the keyboard you’ll find the 2.4GHz USB receiver, a silicone keyboard cover (already on the keyboard), a nice feeling USB-C to USB-C cable (nice and flexible but not too thin either) with a ferrite core on one end, and a USB-C to USB-A adapter (USB 2.0 only). There’s also some documentation like a quick start guide for the function shortcuts. The look and feel: They keyboard is all plastic but it feels like quality material, very sturdy and not like the super cheap stuff that bends when you touch it. It flexes a little if you twist it but otherwise it’s very well built, not much flex when pushing down on it either. Space gray color is nice, fits well with other dark/black peripherals. The keys feel nice and snappy which I love in a scissor switch chiclet style keyboard. No mushy or spongey feeling. They’re also very stable and have no wobble I’ve noticed, except for the up/down arrow keys but that’s reasonable given the size. They have a nice matte finish and feel good to touch and press. Not sure how it’ll wear or get shiny over time but at least for now it looks nice. The Good Stuff: Mac function keys: I use this with multiple platforms but primarily on macOS, and it’s great to have a keyboard brand still pretty much following traditional function key layouts (unlike a certain competitor that has decided we don’t need prev/next track controls in the function row and instead need buttons for search, emojis, mic muting, and screenshots…) The default config is perfect, the only thing I’ll probably change once I figure out what would be useful to have on function keys is the search and brightness control keys since I don’t need them. Versatility: This keyboard is super versatile for all types of devices these days which is great. I use Bluetooth to connect it to my Mac mini, but for my PC it’s great to have the 2.4GHz USB option so I can use the keyboard to access the BIOS/boot menus and have less latency for gaming. Having the option to use it as a wired keyboard is also cool. Customization: I’ve only played with it a little bit, but I already love that you can change and customize pretty much everything about the keyboard’s mapping in Keychron Launcher! Much better than other brands I’ve used. Included keyboard cover: Tiny detail and not something a lot of people will use, but having a silicone keyboard cover is very convenient for times when I want to keep it clean and protected. I don’t use it often because it does slow me down, but it’s great to have it included in the box. The Bad (or just less than good) Stuff Some smaller nitpicks: - No auto layout switching when bouncing between macOS/Windows. It’s just gonna take some time to get used to the change of doing it manually, but coming from a keyboard that detected and swapped the modifier keys automatically is throwing me off a bit. I do like the physical switch for it though, so maybe an option for auto switching or setting a mode for specific devices/connected would be possible with how customizable the keyboard is. - No built in space to store the 2.4GHz USB receiver. Again small thing but it’d be nice to have a slot for it to keep it safe and prevent loss when it’s not in use. - No Right Option key. This has been a big one for me actually, coming from a Logi K380 that does have one. I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts and some of them rely on Right Option, like clip trimming in Final Cut Pro. For now I’ve remapped the Right Command key to Option on Function Layer 1, but I might wind up exploring the tap/hold programmings and stuff with the Fn key itself since it’s right where Right Option should be. - Half height up/down arrows with full size left/right. Another minor thing I just need to adjust to with time but coming from other keyboards that use half height for all arrow keys, the lack of easy positioning by feel throws me off a bit. Main Complaints Battery is not user replaceable: I like the slimness and convenience of a rechargeable battery, but I’d love to see it also be user serviceable in the event the battery fails or gets up in age so the keyboard could still be used wired without dealing with a spicy pillow. Key rollover is strange: I’m a fast typist (88-100 WPM average) and I’ve found that while holding shift, there’s either an issue with certain letters that are close to each other registering, or something in the firmware is filtering them out assuming it’s accidental keystrokes or misfires. E/R/T/Y especially exhibit this behavior. So far it seems to only be when shift is held, typing fast with words that have letters next to each other on the QWERTY layout like “RETRY”. A minor issue unless you’re going really fast but important enough that I had to note it here. Might be fixes with third party firmware or something, haven’t looked into it yet. Keychron Launcher is online only: This is a big one for me. I like the convenience of a cross platform and light utility for programming my peripherals (unlike the others which are either bloated or not available on macOS/Linux for example) but I also hate the idea of relying on a website to configure my keyboard. What happens if Keychron decides to no longer host Launcher in a few years or even shuts down entirely? An alternative local app option would be a great thing to have available as a backup. Or a self-hosted version of Launcher, that'd be cool! Overall I’m glad all the positive stuff I’ve heard about Keychron over the last little while is proving true, I’m definitely gonna keep an eye on their stuff for other peripherals. There’s also a new keyboard in this same series that recently appeared on their website called the B3 Pro, and while it’s a bit different (circular keys) it does look like it addresses at least one of my complaints about the lack of a Right Option key so that looks promising. If you need a compact and slim/laptop style keyboard on a budget, this is an absolutely great choice especially if you’re a Mac user wanting the proper layout out of the box! This would pair perfectly with a Mac mini setup on a budget!
Review: A great quality keyboard for touch typists! - I've used other keychron products (mechanical keyboards) and I have to say this is a really solid keyboard all round. Simple to use, easy to access settings, switching between bluetooth devices but the keyboard typing experience is really solid even for a fast touch typist like myself. Great job.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great quality keyboard for touch typists!
*by C***F on January 9, 2026*

I've used other keychron products (mechanical keyboards) and I have to say this is a really solid keyboard all round. Simple to use, easy to access settings, switching between bluetooth devices but the keyboard typing experience is really solid even for a fast touch typist like myself. Great job.

### ⭐ Keyboard is not bad, Customer Service is horrendous!
*by D***N on January 2, 2025*

This keyboard has a lot of features. It also has a decent feel for a low travel keyboard. The only thing that was a problem is that it won't work with a KVM So if you are using this keyboard to communicate with multiple systems through a KVM, look elsewhere. . The unit worked fine until last month when my Return key stopped working. I reset the keyboard, no change and re-flashed it and it worked for 1/2 hour. Trying to contact Keychron has been futile. So far I've heard chirping crickets from the US distributor ,which uses a gmail address. Very Frustrating.
