This is a great unit for the price. I've used it to cut 3/8" aluminum and it worked like a charm. So easy to set up and use.

Was kind of scared to spend money on this but it works amazingly. It has cut everything I have thrown at it. Very much worth the money.

For the money, it’s pretty nice. Cut some pretty thick metal.

This thing works incredible. You must be hooked up to ample power - if you run it off an extension cord it does not work well (220v performs the best)

Would give zero stars if it were an option. Literally did not work at all. Would make a humming sound at first, then nothing after. Returned and purchased a different brand

This welder works perfectly fine easy set up, right out of box plug in add wire and weld away. Definitely a great small welder more than capable of doing work. Remember it's not a professional welder to weld structural steel, mufflers,hitch, tractor, motorcycle ect can definitely do the work the mass majority of home garages need at a super price. I have been welding for 30 yrs and I needed a small machine that was cheap that works. This thing fits perfectly. As far as build quality it's definitely not a miller, Lincoln, or Hobart. It's light weight and Chinese feel. But it lays some great beads and penetrates well so well my kids ran it and we're pros yet never ran a welder other than votech highschool training.

This thing is amazing. I've used it several times on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. All nice clean cuts. Way cheaper than acetylene. Probably never use my acetylene torch again.

I tested this against a Hypertherm 45 plasma cutter. Three sixteenth steel At 55 amps I had to travel fairly slow. On the Hypertherm set at 35 amps it cut twice faster than the 55 amp arc captain. For the price the arc captain seems to be a good deal but I can't see it anywhere near the stated output. Both at 242 volts input. After using this machine for a day it is clearly worth the asking price. While the output may be less than 55 amps it does work very well. Its hard to understand how it can be sold at this price Review update. I took some half inch square stock for motor shaft keyway Being clean the plasma cutter on 30 amps cut just little slow. At 55 amps it cut right through the steel adequately Again if it lasts its a very good bargain under 400.00. My original review with the Hypertherm was accurate but its a 2800.00 dollar machine. The arc captain is a good machine for my garage work.

Works like a dream . Cutting thin metal at the moment But it seems to work pretty good Used it all day outside -15 Perfect tool for little cost Highly recommend for the do it yourself person Great hobby unit
