If you have a kid that isn't a keen reader, I imagine these would be fabulous. I have bought them for a lot of kids as birthday presents and loaned them out and they are hugely popular. They have been around a long time but are an American series and have not caught on in the UK. Highly recommend and check out the fact finder books that go with them. Each book in the series has a topic (dinosaurs, planets, etc) and there is a companion on that topic as well. There is also a different series that follows. Review: Excellent series - 7yr old grandson keeps asking for this series of books after coming across one (English edition) at school. He understands that the spelling is sometimes different(these are American edition), reads them very quickly and soon will have read 1-28. I shall just continue getting the higher reading level ones-wonder if he will notice the difference.
