It feels natural, and each time I use it, I notice a subtle bittersweet herbal taste on my lips, which makes me believe the fragrance comes from real essential oils rather than synthetic perfume. The cleanser itself is very gentle. It cleans my skin without causing tightness, dryness, or irritation, which is perfect for days when my skin feels sensitive or dehydrated. I also really appreciate the packaging design. The pump dispenses exactly the right amount of product every time, so I don’t have to measure or adjust anything. I just press once, lather it between my wet palms, and massage it onto my face. It makes my routine faster and less stressful, especially on busy days. After about three days, I noticed some closed comedones surfacing, which makes me think the PHA (LHA) in the formula is working to gently exfoliate and promote skin turnover. It’s a subtle but reassuring effect. However, the foam level is quite low, and the cleansing power feels mild. However, for people having skin issues might love it. So, it’s a pleasant, well‑formulated cleanser that’s worth trying if you prefer gentle, hydrating products for sensitive or dehydrated skin.

My Skin Finally Feels Clean and Moisturized. I’ve always had oily skin and struggled with excess sebum. For years, I used cleansers that made my skin feel super squeaky clean because I thought that was a good thing. I actually liked that tight, dry feeling after washing my face until my dermatologist told me it was doing more harm than good. The Good: I enjoy the gel texture of this face wash and find it to be effective as both a cleanser and mild exfoliator. I have sensitive, acne prone, combination/leaning oily skin with rosacea and it has been gentle enough for me to use once daily as long as my skin barrier isn't messed up. My face always feels super smooth immediately after use and after a few weeks I have noticed the sebaceous filaments on my nose are a little less visible. I also feel like the texture of my skin is a bit more refined over all, especially in my T-zone. Honestly, I am loving the results so far. The Bad: The smell. I really, REALLY don't like it. It has a very strong herbal-ish scent which I assume is from the green barley? But it's not a "day at the spa" type herbal smell, it's more pungent and almost like, masculine? I personally find it overwhelming and very unpleasant. It would be more tolerable if the scent washed away with the product, but it sticks around on my skin after I rinse it off and I can continue to smell it for hours. My work around for this has been to use it first thing in the shower followed by shampoo and another face cleanser to rinse away the fragrance as much as possible. If I do that I don't notice it so much afterwards, but it's kind of a lot of work just to tolerate a face wash. TLDR: The formula of this cleanser is very nice and effective and I will finish the bottle, but I don't think I see myself buying it again. The smell is just too off putting for me. I think someone who isn't bothered by strong, lingering scents or really enjoys herbaceous "masculine" fragrances could really love this and get a lot of use out of it, but that person is (unfortunately!) not me me. I only took off one star because aside from the smell the product is great, but the smell is seriously a big drawback for me and likely anyone who has a sensitive nose.

Don’t waste your money on expensive serums or creams before fixing your cleanser first. Choose something gentle and mild. Your skin isn’t breaking out because it’s dirty. Sometimes, the things you do to stop breakouts are what hurt your skin the most. Let your skin rest and trust its natural strength.
