Agreeing with the FIVE Star Reviews!
So, normally my flashlight brand has been Fenix and, while I love a great tactical light, it seems their prices are getting pretty steep, and, frankly, I have not been a huge fan of the growing complications for operation of their lights, where it seems it takes a lot of fiddling with the controls, which seems they are doing more of, instead of less of, as new models come out. Given that the 1000 Lumen Fenix starts at over seventy dollars, and, given the straight forward operation of this light and its strong output of 1100 Lumens (my thanks to the reviewers here on Amazon, and also on YouTube who put up great video reviews!) this seemed a brand worth trying, at just under fifty bucks. While my concern always is value for money, because I know cheaper flashlights can be total junk, this light had such terrific reviews that it did not seem that paying less here would deliver less. That was my only point of hesitation, oddly enough, at first, was the smaller price tag, but I just couldn't find negative feedback of any sort to say this was not a top grade light. So, I ordered it, and, upon receiving it, needless to say I am really glad I decided to buy it, because it is every bit as great as the higher priced Fenix brand, and frankly I think it is a superior, just in smoothness and ease of operation, not to mention it puts out a hundred more Lumens. The build quality is outstanding on this light -- super sturdy, rough and tough, and ready for any adventure, whether it's a simple power outage at home, or serious field use. Every aspect of the build inspires confidence, and I loved it so much that I have since bought another ThruNite, which is equally phenomenal. I always appreciate when a brand can showcase the fact that top quality doesn't need to cost a fortune, highlighting that we often are paying more for a known brand, not because we really "get more for paying more" but rather we're just paying extra for a name. Clearly, there is a threshold of quality for cost, of course, and a light this good isn't going to be had for ten or twenty dollars, but it's just nice to be able to spend a bit less here, and not lose out, at all, in excellence of craftsmanship. I went with the Cool White, because it is brighter, plain and simple. I don't have much concern for "real" colors of what I am illuminating, I just want bright illumination for when I want it, and, seeing comparisons online, and even according to ThruNite, the Cool White is the "brighter" looking model, compared to the Neutral White. Size is perfect, weight is perfect, and it fits perfectly in the hand. I opted for the 18650 battery (which I bought separately, in a bundle with a charger), despite ThruNite saying it gives the same output of two CR123A's, because reviews have said the 18650 is just a better all around power source for these high powered lights. The strength of the light is truly impressive, and I appreciate also how they have staged the brightness levels -- on some brands, lower settings can sometimes be too low and higher settings are unnecessarily high in output, but ThruNite has a terrific balance here, and, in saving on battery power, settings other than the brightest still get the job done for most situations, and, obviously, the highest setting lights up the world, when needed. There is just no drawback to this light, and no points of compromise have been made. It is every inch the same, or superior, to any light costing far more money, so don't feel at all that this is a "lesser" light, because it's not. It actually exceeds higher priced brands in some aspects, and matches them in any other, so you're actually paying less to get more, which is a rare and wonderful thing! I'm exceptionally pleased with this buy, and, as I said, I already have bought another (the ThruNite that runs on 4 AA's, putting out 1150 Lumens -- it makes daylight, basically, if put in a room, which I recently needed during a power outage, when I had work to finish at my office) so this will be a brand I'm sticking with, and I'm saying farewell to Fenix, since ThruNite is putting out equal to even better quality, at lower prices. As others have said, this is just a tremendous deal for a light of this quality, and I couldn't be more pleased. Definitely a "best buy" item here that does not disappointment, and, more so, even exceeds expectation in performance. Highly recommend! Thanks for reading, and I hope this has been helpful.

Updated: light is bright twice as much. Needs 18650 batteries and charger when ordering this light
Update: July 2019 Light is still going strong. No issues after 2 years. They lowered thr price since I bought my two light. They are down to $39 each. Avery good price for what you get. This review is for the ThruNite TN12 2016 XP-L Neutral White EDC LED Flashlight... For the price this is the best deal going. It performs as good as lights costing twice as much. Color Tint: I prefer neutral white (NW) and thus one is truly NW. Brightness: -I do not have a way to test actual lumens, but from my experience with other lights verified by those that do have the means to verify lumens, this light is definitely a +1000 lumen light. Output Levels: -are well spaced from 2-5. 1 to level 2 jumps quite a bit due to level 1 being firefly mode. Firefly is truly a low level light that is very useful for getting up in the middle of the night for a munchy or latrine break. I have other lights with low level outputs that are brighter than they need to be. This one is just perfect when going from just woke up, to you are now in the bathroom. Throw/Flood/Spotlight: -the beam throws a nice hot spot with a good deal of flood light. It makes searching an area much easier than lights which use a spotlight with minimal flood. -the beam cannot be adjusted but thanks to the design of the reflectors, you get good center brightness and the flood covers your peripheral vision areas quite nicely. Build Quality/Strength: -the quality of the metal is obviously very good. The knurling could be a bit more aggressive. I plan on putting non-skid tape on several contact spots --Tail cap has flanges that protect the on/off button and also allow the flashlight to be stood on its end. The flanges also have slots for attaching lanyards/wrist straps if desired. The flashlight comes with one that I like. NOTE: the tail cap appears to be the weakest link with this flashlight. I am comparing the TN12 against the Fenix PD35Tac. The TN12 rubber cover seems a little thinner and the button not as robust. Not a deal breaker by any means. I am trusting the warranty to have my back on this point. --The threading on both ends of the body are well machined and thread smoothly. O-rings are snugly fitted. --The lens material is very sturdy and should withstand very rough treatment Ergonomics: -I find the length of the light to be a perfect fit in MY hand. When gripped, the level change button is directly under my thumb. -The ribbed areas are right where they need to be to feel comfortable and to provide additional grip -I do not use the clip that came with the light. They tend to make flashlights uncomfortable to hold. I read several reviews where the owners had trouble with the light build/defects. I will update this review if I have any troubles or discover more positives. The old saying "you get what you pay for" does not apply as much these days. Many American products are over priced or crippled so you have to buy the next more expensive version. I am talking minor improvements, not evolutionary improvements. Many lights such as SureFire sell lights with only one level of brightness and have the nerve to charge as much as other lights having at least 3 levels of lighting. If I received value for the money I spend, I would buy more American products. I do not see the value for the dollar spent for many (not all) American products. This light is in the quality and brightness levels as the Fenix PD35 TAC for almost half the price. I own the PD 35 Tac and like it, but would have bought the TN12 2016 had I discovered it first. This light does not have a tactical mode but most users do not need or use this mode.

Gave this as a Christmas present, tested it first. Good hand-feel, seems sturdy, has a nice weight. I like the range of settings, though I couldn't tell the difference between the top two (probably because I tested it indoors). I can see the lowest lumen setting being very handy for working behind tvs, cabinets, etc, as it casts enough light to see what you're doing without accidentally blinding yourself. Note that this does not work with common household batteries. It requires a specialised battery (known as 18560), which is not included in all versions. Budget extra for batteries and a charger if you don't have them already.

Awesome light. I loved this thing. I lost mine...very sad about that, but I plan on buying another. I bought the unit with carry-pouch and cool-white light. I'd buy the warmer-tone light for the more natural light when camping, biking, etc. I was one of those guys that saw the specs and thought: "1000 lumens for warm, 1100 for white...10% brighter! Better value, go cool!". Now, that's funny to me. This light is stupidly bright. 10% brightness won't make a difference for 99% of use cases. The brightness was extremely impressive, especially for the size of the light. I'd compare it on turbo to a single car headlight. It is BRIGHT. I've never owned a light like this before, but the entire product screams quality. The rear battery cap has a good, thick rubber gasket to seal the battery compartment and feels very encouraging, solid, when screwing closed. The alert/rapid flash function cannot be accidentally activated when cycling through brightness modes, since you press-and-hold the button to activate it. Very useful. The light remembers your previous brightness setting when you turn it off for the next use. No complaints. The clip is well-placed for balance, the light is bright, and lasts very long on a charge if you use a quality battery. It does get hot on turbo mode after you leave it on for 5-10+ minutes, but the light is *plenty* bright even on high which is 450 lumens if I remember correctly. Definitely recommended.
