This was a replacement for a different, existing knob. The back plate seems like it will make the item durable, but makes installation a little more difficult. The old knob allowed for a slight angle on the screws to make it easier to install around the knob itself. This knob's back plate essentially forces the screw to go straight in and makes it a little harder to screw in. Better for a new application were holes are being created for the first time. Existing holes for this job didn't align to the new knob (too close since previously angled screws).
