a very good sized, sleek compost bin that won't look terrible on. your counter
I've been using another brand of countertop compost bin for the past few years but it's about 3/4 the size of this one and the handle was starting to rust which seemed very weird and also icky looking. I decided it was time for a new one and I'm glad that I did because I'm so much happier with this model. it's a much better larger size - and btw, I live alone so it's just me emptying coffee grounds, chopping and peeling, etc. the top of this compost bucket is nice and snug so it does a great job of keeping all the smells in. this is also very good looking, stylish (if that's a possible word to use on a compost bin) and sleek so it doesn't look awful and out of place on on my counter. it's a big improvement in looks and quality over my last model and I'm so glad I decided to upgrade

Compost! It's good for your health! :)
I love my new compostable bin. Never mind how happy I am now that we can compost at our new place, this compost bin makes the process so much sweeter because it's so convenient, it looks great and serves its purpose to the max! We got the copper color and it matches so well with our wood toned kitchen/cabinets. We put compostable bags inside the bin to help with clean up and still clean the inside of the bin once in a while and it's so easy! The best part is no odor because of the charcoal filter embedded on the inside of the lid. Those charcoal filters are also exchangeable and you can also find replacement on Amazon. I do wish but he bin was slightly larger since we produce a decent amount of compost with our home cooking and it fills up rather quickly, although I don't think a bigger bin would have the same aesthetic. So in the meantime, I'm happy to get my steps in and take out my compost every 2-3 days. Just an awesome product all around! Highly recommended.

Perfect for our needs!
What I love about this recycle canister is that its the perfect size for our small kitchen, it looks good, and is easy to keep clean. I like how the charcoal filters keep smells at bay. The lid fits snugly keeping flies and bugs out yet it's still easy to open as needed. It is well made and I expect it to last.

Perfect Solution for Urban Composting
! #### Rating: ★★★★★ (5 out of 5 stars) --- As someone who recently decided to take a greener approach to waste, I purchased the EPICA Countertop Compost Bin, and I couldn't be happier with my choice! Here's why I recommend it highly: **Design and Build Quality**: The EPICA Compost Bin sports a sleek and compact design, making it an aesthetic fit for my kitchen countertop without being obtrusive. The stainless steel finish is not only stylish but also durable, resisting rust and leaks over time. It's clear that this product is built to last, which is essential for daily use. **Capacity and Functionality**: Despite its compact footprint, the bin holds more than it looks — a significant plus as I cook frequently and generate plenty of compostable waste. The size is just perfect, not requiring constant trips to the larger outdoor bin while also not sitting too long to start decomposing indoors. **Odor Control**: The built-in charcoal filter is a standout feature. It effectively traps odors, which was a major concern for me when I started composting indoors. I'm pleased to report that even after several days, there's no hint of unpleasant smells escaping the bin. **Ease of Use and Maintenance**: This bin is remarkably easy to handle. The lid opens smoothly and seals back securely, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the contents. Cleaning the bin is just as easy; a quick rinse under hot water gets the job done, and occasionally, I wipe it down with vinegar for a deeper clean. **Eco-Friendly**: Making the switch to composting has never been easier, and it feels great to know that I’m minimizing my ecological footprint by reducing landfill waste. The EPica Compost Bin makes this lifestyle switch feasible and practical. **Final Thoughts**: Overall, the EPICA Countertop Compost Bin is an excellent investment for those looking to start composting without hassle. It's efficient, stylish, and environmentally friendly—everything I was looking for and more. Whether you’re a seasoned composter or a newbie like myself, this bin is sure to meet your needs! Highly recommended for anyone looking to step up their sustainability game!

Fashionable but not big enough
The only reason that I am not giving this product five stars is because the pail is not big enough. I read previous reviews that said "...this is really large" or "..only have to empty once per week", but those people must not juice, have a vegetarians or Paleo diet, or just consume the bare minimum of fruits and vegetables. I am single and try to include as many vegetables as I can in my meals. I juice twice per day and focus on a Paleo eating plan for the most of my meals; you can imagine my fridge looks like a produce rainbow. With that being said, I have to dump my pail a minimum of twice per week. Good thing that I have compost pile near by to empty my pail. If you LOVE to cook, I recommend looking into the XL compost bin. You honestly will be shocked with all the produce items you can compost. ALSO, don't buy the "biodegradable"garbage bags!!! They don't break down in your compost heap!!!!! POSITIVE: 1) Look great on the counter 2) Easy to clean. a. Put it in the dishwasher (after removing the filters) b. Hose it out after you dump you compose. Throw the water on the compose heap to contribute those last little bits 3) NO SMELL!!! Those filter work great!! 4) Sturdy build. I have lugged my full (and surprisingly heavy) pail to my car, drove to the compost pile, hauled pail to the compost pile, and swinging/shaking/pounding to release everything with NO problems or dents. Now I would not recommend using the pail for soccer or baseball practice, but it can take a licking and keep on ticking. NEGATIVE: 1) Not large enough for people who eat more than 3 pieces of produce per day. 2) Awkward filter. The filter is difficult to pull out. I tied to pinch the filter as recommended, but it didn't work. I use the large end of a chopstick to push out the filter from the top of the lid and that seems to work well. If you get the filter wet (either water or touching compose) they will start to mold quickly. If you have a compose heap near by or in your backyard, the size of this pail will not be a issue. If you have to drive a while, I would look for something bigger so you won't have to empty the pail as often.

This bin is great, unlike some of the reviewers here.
UPDATE - September 2025: I still have this bin and use it daily. It hasn't rusted, broken, or had any other issues. It has been banged on the side of my outdoor compost bin (to get the little bits stuck at the bottom out) probably thousands of times at this point and it's still looking and functioning great. Still 5 stars. - Original review: I have zero complaints about this compost bin, for which reason I am giving it five stars, because that's how Amazon reviews work. However, based a couple of reviews that I'm reading now, I'm guessing that the main reason I'm pleased with this bin (apart from the fact that it performs its intended function perfectly well) is that I actually understand what a compost bin is and what composting involves. Here are some pointers, in case you are new to this: 1. A compost bin is basically just a pot with a lid on it. If you are going to order this thing and then find yourself shocked when you receive what is basically just a pot with a lid on it in the mail (despite the numerous images on this page that clearly show what is basically a pot with a lid on it), then please just go buy a pot and save yourself the trouble of posting a really stupid review on Amazon that blames the product for the fact that you didn't realize what a compost bin was. 2. Composting involves taking your food scraps that would *otherwise be trash* and keeping them in a bucket (or a pot with a lid on it) in your kitchen. For this reason, it will *get dirty*, just like the rest of the items in your kitchen that come in contact with food. You will often have to *wipe it down* to remove the residue of whatever you put in it, *just like everything else in your kitchen*. Don't let the term "compost bin" fool you into thinking that this product has the magical ability to self-clean. Remember that this is basically just a pot with a lid on it. 3. Here's the thing about food scraps: they break down over time. They even break down a bit over the course of a few days. Another word for this breakdown process is "rotting". THIS IS WHY WE COMPOST THEM. If you leave your compost sitting on your counter for a week at a time, *it will start to smell*. DO NOT BLAME THE BIN - get off your lazy rump and go empty the dang thing. Would you keep your trash for a week if it was full of rotting food? NO. Honestly, a bin that will hold a week's worth of scraps isn't a good thing. A compost bin is not a panacea for all compost-related unpleasantness. If you don't want your food scraps smelling on your countertop, but you also refuse to walk allllll the way to your compost bin more than once a week, then maybe composting isn't for you. Which is fine, just don't leave a three star review on Amazon once you figure that out. - Okay, done snarking. Here's what I like about this bin: *It looks good on the countertop *It has a carrying handle, unlike your average pot with a lid on it *It is well-proportioned - tall enough to hold a good amount of stuff without having a huge footprint on the countertop, but not so tall that it tips over *I've had little to no problem with fruit flies, presumably because I have been careful to only remove the lid when I am putting stuff in the bin *It cleans easily *It is durable and unbreakable Basically, it does everything a compost bin should do, assuming you do not have ridiculous, uninformed, and mutually-incompatible expectations for how it will function.

No more smell!
One of my favorite kitchen purchases in the last ten years. Solid stainless makes it easy to clean and it does not absorb smells like every other compost bucket I've had. Holds plenty. The carbon filters actually work. You can let the inside of the canister get pretty ripe - to the point where lifting the lid makes you run for cover - and yet no smell in the kitchen. NO SMELL! Did I mention we can't smell compost in the kitchen anymore? I bought the extra pack of filters but have only used one in six months. All of our vegetable kitchen waste goes through it. Worth every penny.

Great product
This is great. The filter on top keeps any smells from escaping. No rust at all, even after forgetting it out in the rain for a couple weeks. Heavy duty, fits a lot. No leaking. Looks great in my kitchen, love the color. Nice handle. No scratches, doesn't scratch my counter. Practical and good price.
