It now works perfectly.
I had to change my review. Initially, it did refuse to start then after two days it stopped working. It turned up that the cable supplied are or became very directional. Yet, there is no indication of that on the cables themselves, the manula, the web page, the Amazon page, unless I missed it. The main thing is that now it works flawlessly! It is now connected to an old (but absolutely wonderful) Apple Cinema display ca. 2011 by two extra adapters (The Apple display crazily has a non remomovable mini DP only (told you that is an old display). At the other end is connected to a Macbook Pro M4, and the other system is an old MacBook Pro 2016 running WIndows 11 through Bootcamp (or sometimes booted to Monterey). It has been working now for two months, switching seamlessly for two months (of course now I marked the ends odf the cables!). My apologies to Cable Matters, and a plea to mark the seemingly directional cables so that they can be correctly connected and explain that in your instructions. I was tempted to give less than 5 stars, because of that, but it does exactly what I need, hence 5 stars.

Surprisingly, it works with all-Apple gear
I’m kind of amazed that this works with my Apple Studio Display, because it wasn’t listed as a supported device and I was fully expecting to send this straight back, but — much to my surprise — it does indeed work with an all-Apple setup! I have a Mac Mini going into one input and a MacBook Pro in another, and switching the Studio Display between them is as simple as pressing the button. It takes a couple of seconds to switch, but it works.

Pretty good if a little expensive
Quite expensive but does what I need. I use it to connect either my laptop or my desktop to my monitor, my monitor has a hub with KB/mouse/webcam. This allows my laptop to charge from the monitor, display out from laptop to monitor and peripherals are available on the laptop. My desktop connected to the second input doesn't have USB-C display out or need powering by USBC so it just simply passes the peripherals connected to the monitor. It works pretty well, there have been a couple of times where it stopped switching or doing anything and I thought it was dead but after unplugging for a few minutes it came back to life. The remote works well for switching and doesn't appear to need line of sight, there's also a physical button on the unit to switch inputs. It's hard to put a time on how quickly it switches because the USB devices need to enumerate but it's pretty fast and the devices are available within a couple of seconds. My device came with a hard to remove sticker on the top which was a bit annoying if you care about the aesthetics, I had to use isopropyl to remove the sticker back paper and residue.

Cable Matters 20gbps usb c switch works flawlessly with Apple Studio Display
I have an Apple Studio Display with a 2018 Mac mini and a 2023 M2 Mac mini Pro. I run macOS Mojave on the 2018 Mac mini so that I can run legacy software. Apple say that the Studio Display requires macOS 12.3 (Monterey), but it works fine on Mojave unless you need to use it with the camera. Up till now I have been swapping the Studio Display lead from one computer to the other, which is a real pain. I bought a thunderbolt 5 switch at GREAT expense, but it didn’t work. Without any great confidence I bought the Cable Matters usb c switch. To my astonishment it worked flawlessly straight out of the box. I’m really over the moon, and it only cost a fraction of the price of the thunderbolt 5 switch. I couldn’t be more pleased. Definitely 5 star.

OK, but doesn't really do what I need
A great price, came with cables and looks good on the desktop, however when both laptop and PC are plugged into it, it can cause my 2 screens to "cut out" for a few seconds, which is quite annoying, and leads me to have to unplug one of the devices, which defeats the object of buying. Can also cause the "inactive" device to "wake up" from sleeping, or even fail to shut down. The 20GBps bandwidth is OK but wish I'd spent more on a proper KVM with higher bandwidth, then maybe I wouldn't have had the issues described.

Great Monitor Switch
Worked out of the gate on my Windows laptop and had to trust the usb hubs on my MacBook Pro. Can flaunt. My monitor has wireless keyboard and mouse dongles in its USB connections and they’ve worked seamlessly. Very good simple USB-C monitor switch (USB as well)

Does not work for any use case
I have a Windows laptop and desktop. Both have USB-C, but only the laptop has USB-C that also carries video. As such I have to unplug both my screens every time I want to switch the dock over to the desktop, and plug them back in again to switch to the laptop. I also have to switch the cable from the dock into my desktop/laptop. Bought this on the premise that it would turn my existing Lenovo ThinkPad USB-C dock into a USB-C KVM, but it just isn't doing that. For a bog standard setup (I see a lot of reviews mentioning multiple Macs into a _single_ screen) this will probably work fine. Just a note: If your dock supplies your devices with power (i.e. if your dock charges your laptop when plugged into this) this won't work anymore. The device has a sticker on that states the USB-C connection into your laptop does not also charge it, so you'd have to have another PSU. Packaging is... fine. Cables seem of good quality. Device is quite light (not that that's a measure of quality or anything. I don't like the fact that you have cables (quite stiff cables tbh) plug into the front and the rear... it's hard to find a space on a desk where this would look neat (maybe if you mount it under the desk? the remote control for switching would certainly be helpful there). Will be returning it.

Not working
After having such a high hope in purchasing this. It was such a let down. It couldn’t switch properly with my docking station and monitors connected. I have returned it. Wouldn’t recommend it.
