Slightly disappointed with the ‘freshness’ of the copy received
I received the book alright but it seemed like a ‘used’ and not a fresh copyThe book itself - the contents - are excellent and highly recommended for people who use C programming beyond the beginner / intermediate stages

Great read!
This is a great resource for learning modern C. Highly recommend.

Very basic. A fairly good updater/refresher
The "Effective-<language>" books are often aimed at people already knowing a language, who want to get a better understanding of the good code practices and performance optimizations.I felt disappointed that this book is not about that. Effective-C is a concise and well-written introduction to the language basics, describing the most common language constructions and libraries. If you want to learn programming. This book is not for you, the same way you won't learn English just by reading a dictionary. If you want to learn C, this book might be for you if you haven't seen a line of C in your life. Thatwas not my case. I coded C89 in my school days, and I enjoyed the reading of this book because it allowed me to see few nice additions of C23, but beyond the syntax, I would have liked to get deeper knowledge about more advanced topics, such as concurrent programming tools, memory-safety, etc.

Good Book
Good book for experienced developers, who are new to C language or C programmers who want a refresher on the latest and greatest about what the language can offer up to C23.I only gave 4 stars, because the "Effective" title is a bit misleading: there is no "Effective" as in other languages like Effective C++ in terms of intended seniority level. This is more for C beginners, but for experienced in other languages.

learning C is like starting over from nothing
I came from Python and this book is a bit hard to understand. A friend recommended it because this is the book they learned with. They are obviously smarter than me. I might try to learn Rust instead. C just seems confusing as a language it adds many steps that other languages just do for you. I think this is an overall good book just not for beginners. I'm intermediate and i still have to read some pages over and over to get what is going on.
