Good sound quality, long cable, easy to use, comfortable on ears.
The sound quality is really good, especially the bass. The sound is clear and crisp and not muffled. I love them. Very soft and comfortable over the ear, also not tight fitting on the head. It can be adjusted. I use it on my very old keyboard and I get a much better sound quality with these headphones than without them. The music sound in the video is coming through the headphones from my old keyboard. The price is a little steep but it's Sony, and I got a pair of good headphones with solid sound quality. So they may be a little expensive but I have no regrets. It also has a long flexicable which is really convenient for my use. The earphones are a perfect fit over the ears, and they cancel out most background noises but not all, but when the music drops in my ears, I can barely hear anything else, leaving me with ๐ฏ focus on the music. I'd say they're at the low end of 'professional' quality, but a good pair of headphones nevertheless. I'd definitely buy these again.

Beautiful headphones
Great headphones that I use to professionally mix songs. Massive jump in quality when compared to cheaper headphones such as gaming phones. Super detailed. There are also durable and I love the long length of the cablewhich makes it possible for me to use these in a live setting. Great value. They do sit a little over the ear, but if you don't have particually big ears, you can find a comfortable position easily after a few uses.

Best value, high quality headphones going in a similar price range (in my experience so far).
Quality headphones, like other HiFi equipment, are always going to be a highly personal, subjective thing. I own a few pairs of headphones. Each of them have their various pros. However, comparing these Sony MDR-7506's to other highly-regarded, similarly-priced headphones, for example, the excellent Sennheiser HD560S, the Philips Fidelio X2HR & the Sennheiser HD598, these Sony MDR-7506's are probably the ones that I spend the most time listening to music. I've owned them since February, 2024. Though in fairness, it's a very close thing with the equally superb Sennheiser HD560S. Both excel for overall quality in their price range. I use them with Cambridge Audio HiFi. Aside from the Sony's relatively lighter weight & added comfort for longer listening sessions, all without getting too warm, what I love most about them is their excellent clarity, brightness & vibrancy. I'd swear that I can hear more higher frequency music & detail on certain songs, more clearly, with the Sony MDR-7506's than with my other quality headphones. Though once again, it's a close thing with the brilliant Sennheiser HD560S's. The latter offer better overall separation & depth, but their RRP is also significantly higher. An unqualified 5 Stars for the Sony MDR-7506's. They excel with their excellent clarity & vibrancy among other similarly-priced, quality headphones. Outstanding value!

Pretty good with a couple of caveats
These are pretty decent headphones, offering pretty well balanced sound. The materials and build quality seems good, although as they're foldable then these hinges could be a potential point of failure down the line. I find them comfortable to wear as the pads cup over my ears perfectly. Your mileage may vary here, especially if you have rather large ears! The cable is long and feels robust. It uses a spiral cable similar to what old landline telephones had. However, this construction does make the cable far heavier than standard cables which makes them inappropriate to wear on the go. As mentioned, sound quality is good. However, if you are partial to strong bass then there are better options. The overall sound is very 'default' if you get my meaning, with lows, mids and highs all being equal in prominence.

Classic and professional
These are really stylish and reminds me of some my dad had in the 80s although slightly better colour and style on these more modern ones they are definitely styled with the originals in mind. These work really well as a Studio Monitor as they state on the head strap in a stylish and quality way. Classic cushioned ear muff style and wrap over the head make them comfortable and warm while also for me creating more ambience in the listening experience as the sound has an area to reverberate within as you listen rather than directly to the eardrum with an in-ear headphones. They have a classic style curly wire to the jack that is easily long enough for use at a studio desk or at home and I am using them with a professionally branded microamp I bought on Amazon for guitar, making them a fantastic combination together. Great value for money, these are the most affordable of the 3 in the series, I would love to hear the difference between these and one of the more expensive pairs but having never heard them, these are clear, comfortable and work exactly as intended. Comes with larger stereo jack adapter as well. They also come with a nice and durable soft bag to store and carry them in, which is great and I find very useful. Well worth spending over ยฃ80 as they will last the rest of my life while I make sure they are kept well. Definitely recommend for durability, ease of use, style and most importantly, sound

Well balanced, studio quality audio for under ยฃ90!
I have been a sound engineer for about thirty years, recording in studios and in the live environment. These headphones have been an 'industry standard' for over 30 years for good reason - and I have used them in many a studio. They are comfortable enough for long listening sessions: I spend hours listening to and mixing down music with these headphones, and they never get uncomfortable. The lightweight design and soft ear cups are pleasant for long periods, with a padded, adjustable headband. These cans are very versatile and can be utilised for all genres of music: Whether listening to classical, electronic beats, or rock the MDR-7506s handle with ease. They're the perfect all-around headphones for any music lover. If you're looking for incredible sound quality without spending a fortune, the Sony MDR-7506s are the ones for you. They are not fully noise-cancelling, but the outside sound is negligible and doesn't detract from what you are listening to. Some reviews have complained of the lack of bass response but these reviewers are missing the point - these are 'studio monitor' headphones - they offer a virtually 'flat-response' across the entire frequency range. These headphones are designed to reproduce the audio as accurately as possible - as the engineer (who has spent painstaking hours mixing) intended; so if you like your bass artificially enhanced then you will need to go elsewhere I'm afraid. For less than ยฃ100 you can't go wrong with these headphones.

There's a reason why these are very common in studios and broadcast settings.
The Sony MDR-7506/MDR-V6/MDR-CD900ST is what many people in the audio space call a "tried-and-true" design. A simple metal headband with a vinyl finish and plastic driver housing. Though plastic, it is a very reliable material that can handle heavy usage and light weather. The three similar, yet different designs can be identified by the text on the driver. The CD900ST and V6 has a sticker that screams "FOR DIGITAL", while the 7506 has a sticker that says "PROFESSIONAL". I'd take off the sticker, looks even more professional. Beside sound, a headphone is worth buying if it is comfortable to wear for long listening sessions. The MDR-7506 is exactly that... if you have a smaller head. Though the headphone is light and the headband is able to cater for large heads, the pads do not. They are intentionally shallow to improve treble response and localisation (the ability to locate where certain sounds come from). If you are someone who has a large head, change the pads the second you get these. They will press against your outer ear, which gets pretty uncomfortable after an hour or two. I recommend a good quality leather pad such as the SOULWIT's or the YAXI stPad 2. These pads has more cushioning and better sealing, which helps with noise isolation and bass response. Actually, even if you have small heads, get new pads. The pleather material is likely to wear off quickly, especially in humid environments. Another thing you can do for comfort is to slightly bend the headband. As the headband is metal, it can be bent to suit larger heads better. Other than these small issues, the MDR-7506 is fairly light and comfortable for long usage. When it comes to sound, the best way to describe it would be "neutral-warm" that shows "honest" qualities. These do show flaws in recordings, the quality of the file you are listening to, and more subdued details that not many headphones within this price point cannot. The only headphone that can do this are the Koss PortaPro or the Koss KSC75 (technically an ear-speaker, but whatever). The bass is slightly warm, which more listeners tend to prefer. This helps with bass (the instrument), kick drums, timpanis, and footsteps. The mids are clear and revealing. Each and every part of the band is present without presenting honk or sounding hollow, and the treble is neutral, if slightly extended. This headphone is definitely recommended if you want a "honest" sounding headphone that will last you decades.

Just... amazing!
Let me start by saying that I bought these 6 months ago after a long search and a friend's recommendation. I originally got them to listen to while playing bass (as to not bother my housemates), but I was so happy with them that I just decided to use them at work every day as well. The pros: - Built like a tank - I use them at home, at work, when travelling and going on long flights... I must say that I'm not too rough and take care of them, but I do yank them off my head once in a while. They still look and feel as new and there's no apparent signs of breaking on the sides, which has happened with previous headphones that I've owned. - The cord, which is about 1m long but can go up to 3m, is extremely useful when I play bass and need to move around the room - Very comfortable to wear - I have a small head and use glasses, but even after a long day of using them at work I feel just fine. No more headaches. - Clear sound, that's the only way I can describe it - Not bass heavy, which I was a bit apprehensive when I first got them, but quickly dismissed when I realized how balanced the sound was and that I could actually listen to things I couldn't with other headphones. The cons: - The thin and small cables connecting the ear cups to the head band are the only downside for me. After 6 months of use, the end connecting to the ear cup is showing the connections inside. Although this has in no way affected the sound, so I'm giving it 5 stars regardless. - Not really a con for me, but noise cancellation - they do cancel some noise, but I wouldn't recommend them if you need to totally block noise. If that's what you want, I'd advise investing on different headphones. Overall, great headphones with clear sound for a fair price. I'm a happy owner of the MDR7506!

Comfortable and good sounding closed back under 8k
I love these headphones and this has become my daily driver. I use it for casual listening, movies and monitoring. Comfort: Very comfortable headphones. This is lightweight headphones and doesn't have tight clamping force. Works fine with most head sizes. The padding is light though not uncomfortable. I can wear it for hours comfortably. I may upgrade for a thicker pads when this one wears out. Build: Very well built. The headphones feels sturdy in hand and can survive my clumsy handling. It folds well and I can carry it in my backpack easily. The coiled cables is made of quality material but undetachable and insanely long. The long cables can be wrapped over itself quickly to shorten it - check youtube videos. Spares of most parts are available online - so you don't need to throw it away when something breaks. Sound: This is fairly neutral sounding phones with somewhat flat sound signature . Really crisp mids and lows with tight bass. The bass is not overpowering or physical yet is punchy - maybe passable for bassheads. It has more bass than my AKG K371 but not as much as Brainwavz HM55. Its slight extension towards lows and highs adds some coloration but I kind of enjoy it. So instruments may stand-up than vocals a bit. You can EQ it for really flat response if you want - google for calibrated eq settings. The listening experience is on par with K371 except for the soundstage. Sound stage is not very wide but enough for proper instrument separation. My laptop and mobile can drive this pretty loud, I listen at around 50% volume. Overall this is a good no-nonsense cans well worth its ~7k price tag. This model has been around for 36 years for its good engineering and value for money.

Great headphones, great value
Been using daily for 3 years for gaming, listening, mixing, and recording. Excellent sound clarity, a little less low-end than more commercial over-ears (like beats), but mids and highs come through with exceptional clarity for a very balanced sound that's great for mixing/recording and gives really clear audio for general uses like discord calls and streaming. Fantastic headphones overall - especially considering the price point. I have a pair of audiotechnicas and beats that are 1.5-2x the price and these are far and away my preferred headphones. I have a big head that causes some strain on most over-ear headphones over long-term use; if there's a load-bearing plastic component it will usually snap on me after a year or so. This model was no different - the plastic crescent just below the hinge joint that holds the ear casing gave out about 1.5 years in. Fortunately none of the wiring runs through the plastic weak points, so I was able to slap some epoxy on it to repair with no loss in audio quality. An easy fix, and realistically not an issue for someone with a normal-sized head.
