Men's SSC947 Prospex Speedtimer Watch

I'm a watch guy. I buy Seikos for fun. They are inexpensive and a quality watch. This Speedmaster is unbelievable. Quality, size and beauty. I spend a lot of time just looking at it.

A fantastic model in the Seiko Prospex lineup. The color combo is one of a kind, and stands out. A great continuation of the “Pogue”. Much like the pieces form the ‘70’s, this has potential to be on the collectors list in 20 years. It fits great, runs well and is reliable- all traits you expect from a Seiko! Shipping was quick and required a signature, preventing porch pirating. Buy one and enjoy!

I absolutely love this watch! I've never been a watch snob but for the longest time, I did gravitate towards expensive "high-end" brands but I was never really happy with them. The more I thought about it, the more I agreed that I simply do not like mechanical watches. I know that's an unpopular opinion in the watch world but they're not for me! I then began looking for high quality quartz watches that feel high end, but don't cost a fortune. This is it! This Seiko Speedtimer line to me is perfect! These watches measure 41.4mm so they have just the right amount of wrist presence, not too large, not too small. The case length and height are both super comfortable and I even love the bracelet it came on. I've bought other Seikos before in the $500 price range that still had cheap bracelets with hollow end links, but that's not the case with this one. In my opinion, this watch should be closer to the $1k mark if they wanted to but at this price it's a bargain! I was torn between which colorway to buy when I first started researching these 41mm Speedtimers and the Pogue-colorway was the first one I got. (I have 4 now, and one of the 39mm ones, that's how much I like them!) I was a little worried that being the dial is goldish-yellow that it would be hard to see, but not there is enough contrast between the dial and the hands to make this easy to read at a glance. The lume is excellent and the two-toned bezel give it a pop of color that makes the watch feel fun and sporty. Plus, I love telling people the colonial Pogue story when they ask about it. If that wasn't enough, I upgraded the bracelet to a jubilee from Islander Watches and wow that really brings out the retro aesthetics in this thing! I didn't even know they made a bracelet for these 41mm Speedtimers. I had searched and searched, even in forums and all I could find were bracelets for the 39mm ones, and mentions that they would be making one soon. Then I was browsing their site and I found it, it's model BRAC-111 (for the jubilee) and wow its super comfortable and adds a bit more bling to the watch. I think Islander needs to improve their SEC maybe, because when I searched nothing had popped up, but anyway, I wanted to mention it in my review in case others are looking for one.

My absolute favorite watch in my collection! The colors are beautiful, it wears great and feels good on the wrist. An absolute classic and attention grabber for sure. 10 out of 10

Timeless look yet modern as well, comfortable to wear and is sporty and yet can be worn dressed up as well. This watch has the Seiko quality you can depend on and not a bad deal for the money. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a high end quality watch without the high end price tag. PS love the fact it's charged by sunlight so no batteries needed.

Finally, Seiko made a really nice “homage” to the old “Pepsi” watch. I’ve owned mine since 1975 and it really makes me happy to have a successor to it. The weight is about the same and the watch is nearly identical in size. Same crystal size as well. I love it!

This is a beauty for the price. I love the feature of never having to replace the battery and the design is etremely unique. The date display is difficult to read due to it's sized and distance from the face of the watch, but other than that, it's a winner!

Looks like another well made seiko watch, Nice looking kind of like the pogue from the early 1970’s, I’m referring to the watch that William Pogue had on when he was at Skylab , Update: I have had this watch for a couple of weeks now and I am extremely happy with it, I must say it’s extremely accurate, has only gained one second so far in 3 weeks, it’s definitely a keeper in my opinion,
