I need to know how many to order, thank you.** A: From my experience with the product I would advise you do the job properly and use stainless steel mesh. We used Rendagrip on some 110 square metres of wall, all lovely for about 8 weeks and then we noticed large areas where the render was hollow to the tap i.e. it was not attached to the wall. We had to strip the entire wall and found the Rendagrip had stuck to the old render but the new render had not stuck to the Rendagrip. We had a representative from Rendagrip come to site and despite him saying he could see no fault in how the render was applied and reporting that back to the company no compensation was forthcoming. The cost to us as you can imagine was considerable both in time and money. The render applied over the stainless steel mesh is absolutely solid. Whatever you decide GOOD LUCK. Do I need to dampen before applying the render or does it go straight onto the dry wall** A: I had experienced builders use Rendergrip when doing my barn conversation some 3 years ago. The product on this occasion just didn't work resulting in the render having to be taken off and the job being done properly by lining the wall with steel mesh and rendering over that. Using Rendergrip was a VERY EXPENSIVE mistake. Complaining to Rendergrip had them blaming everybody and everything other than their product. Don't waste your money and time with Rendergrip. Robert **Q: does this work on painted smooth surfaces,wetdashed & drydashed painted & unpainted** A: It is designed to be sucked into porous surfaces to seal them to enable the rendered finish to cure naturally rather than having its moisture sucked into the surface and weakened. We found that it did not stick well to smooth hard surfaces so I guess this also means painted surfaces. If you are looking to render over as your suggestion implies, you must initially high pressure jetwash the substrate to remove all the dirt and poorly adhered paint, pressure washing needs to be done throughly which takes time, initially soak the surface with water and cleaners help as well to soften up the dirt, leave on for at least 30mins and re-apply if it looks to be drying out, then starting at the top and using a rotating jet do overlapping horizontial sweeps slowly working your way down the wall keeping the nozzel square to the wall. You need a min 130bar pressure washer. Wear protective goggles as it will strip off all the lose drydash. When finished, if there is any paint left and the substrate before you started was not damp, about 10mins before you apply the render apply Unibond diluted 1:10 just to the remaining paint, allow it to soak in but not to dry, if it tries it becomes like teflon to render... **Q: Can you paint straight over the top of this with masonry paint?
