I have a chicken coop with large locks. I wanted something easy to use, easy to find if I set them down and forget where I left it, and difficult for predators to open. They are easy to handle, secure, and a perfect fit. Both clips are well made and fit securely. They may be called mommy hooks but they have many other uses. I even use one to clip and attach my coop door to the fence when I am cleaning out the run. I even like the foam on them. It keeps my fingers from freezing down that it is getting colder. I can't imagine grabbing them when the snow and ice hit in the winter if they were just metal. My husband found a similar clip at a local hardware type store. He was excited because they were three dollars cheaper. After trying it out I noticed the clip did not fit itself snuggly, there was no foam on it, and it broke within a weak.
