This is the new 2015 BRAU010 of Braumeister, which has an upgraded control panel, capable of storing recipes and mash schedules, as well as showcasing a large full color LED screen, making recipe viewing and manipulation that much easier. Advantages of the Braumeister first the system is small in footprint and powered by electricity allowing you to brew inside, in a confined space. Secondly this unit is very easy to use as you mash the grain and then boil the wort in the same vessel. They have excellent automation and control. Before you brew you set the controller with the different temperatures you wish to attain (advice is given on what to set) and the built in heating element and pump do the rest. The Braumeister is especially ideal for step-mashing, which many brewers Think is the preferred way to brew lager beers. Review: Poor US Support For Braumeister - Speidel has poor customer support in the US. After 2 years + 1 month (past warranty period) the controller in my Braumeister 10l went bad. The screen would go completely black (see pic) in the middle of a brew rendering the brew process useless. The More Beer website (US distributor) did not and still does not stock a replacement controller. However, the Speidel German website offers all the spare parts but will not ship to the US, only Europe. That stinks! At this point, I attempted to place a custom order with More Beer including some other spare parts not available as well in the US. 2 months later, I had received nothing. Here is Speidel representative to my inquiry: " Sorry for the trouble it made you and that our US retailer could not help you." After 2 months of no brewing, I cancelled the order out of frustration. I have subsequently purchased a Grainfather Connect. Unlike Spiedel, they have a real US presence with all parts readily available on their website and other US distributors. And the cost is just a couple hundred bucks more than just purchasing the replacement Braumeister controller alone.
