Sabaton seem to be best at songs about real war heroes. They tell their stories in an interesting, never depressing and often uplifting way. They put everything into this album; the lyrics were carefully chosen and interesting, the songs are the right length and sound fabulous. The ordinary version is absolutely fabulous but the Extra Tracks version of Heroes has two more good songs from earlier, looks just like a hardback book & displays very well. What's also nice is inside the book you get to know a bit about the real heroes who inspired the songs. I appreciate the songs even more now. If you like Sabaton you'll love this. If you don't know Sabaton but you like meaningful lyrics, decent metal music and good vocals then this is ideal for you. This seems to be the perfect metal album as the band performs well, the lyrics are excellent and none of the songs are the same. I highly recommend it to all, even the ballad sounds good.Amazon put all reviews together but it is definitely the Extra Tracks version which I am reviewing. If you already own the original it's up to you whether you need the Extra Tracks version but it's well-worth it if you don't already own it. It has the two extra tracks (7734 & Man of War) which might not be new but are good. However, the best bit for me is that you get to know some about the true heroes and it comes in a good quality, nice-looking book-like case. Please check the track-list and version before ordering to avoid any disappointment. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Tubthumping Bombastic Heavy Metal *by M***M on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 August 2014* Crikey, this is a tub thumping chest beater of an album. Proper manly stuff and no room for wimps that's for sure. This is only my second Sabaton album and to be honest the other didn't grab me for whatever reason. However, I have to say that this one has managed to stick itself to my playlist pretty comprehensively over the last few days.As per their other albums the theme is war. Given the human history it allows a large scope for expression and Sabaton seem to be ploughing a good furrow through it. Of course heavy metal does lend itself to the subject perfectly so hardly a surprise there.Sabaton have created a very heavy record that's packed full of catchy chorus's, thundering riffs and tunes that worm into your brain. Singing is suitably forceful but not at all shouty. The singer can hold a note and a tune well with a deep and clear voice.I guess this could almost fall into the 'Power Metal' genre but thankfully avoids the sword and sorcery imagery that other bands use.Simply a great heavy metal album and Sabaton should be justifiably proud of their efforts. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Superb. *by D***K on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 June 2014* This is a superb album. Until now I'd only heard perhaps one or two Sabaton songs I really enjoyed but this album changed that. Heroes has everything I love in metal music, fantastic lyrics, brilliant music and a singer who is not only excellent but sounds like he's loving every single minute of it.Its album about sacrifice, heroes, famous battles and regiments. It will make your heart swell and your fists clench. I cannot recommend this album more.It has only one negative, in my personal opinion.
