So why the difference?** A: Hi Trevor, the difference is that the 5yr Bluecol uses organic acid Technology (OAT) wereas the 2yr does not. I bought the 2yr Bluecol for my wife's Morris Minor because I was told that the Minor's engine is not compatable with OAT. I don't know why this but I thought that in this case it was better to stay on the safe side. Regards Andrew **Q: Can I use this for bmw 1 series** A: BMWs have specific coolant requirements (nitrite and phosphate free) to prevent build-up and corrosion of aluminum components, so not just any off-the-shelf antifreeze will do. Bluecol 2 year is usually used for classic car engines, I use it for an engine made in 1946. So: I would suggest that you do not use it for a BMW. **Q: Is this okay to use in a 1984 jaguar XJ6** A: I am using it in a 1961 Jaguar Mk2, also with the same XK engine. This Bluecol antifreeze should be a lot safer and effective than the modern variants. **Q: Does this antifreeze have a sour tast to it?,** A: Why does your car care about the 'taste'? One shudders to think what you have planned! ## Frequently Bought Together - Bluecol Universal Antifreeze, 1 L - Castrol EDGE 5W-30 LL Engine Oil 1L - CarPlan All Seasons Ready Mixed Screen Wash, Removes Dirt, Grime, Prevents Freezing, 5 Litres --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.dk/products/64466809-bluecol-universal-antifreeze-1-l](https://www.desertcart.dk/products/64466809-bluecol-universal-antifreeze-1-l) --- *Product available on Desertcart Denmark* *Store origin: DK* *Last updated: 2026-10-03*
