How do you heat up the soldering pump for this unit?

The sucker is for small IC work. Normally , use a small iron and get the solder molten on the IC pin, Hold the sucker next to the iron and suck up the solder. Then, be sure to push out the solder that is in the sucker.. Any remaining solder can be removed with solder wick. The copper braid wicks up what s left .
