I have a beagle and of course my beagle would dig up my yard looking for gophers. My yard looked like the surface of the moon because of all the digging. I had to take action and so I bought this product. I have to be extremely careful not to poison my dog, or my chickens. Here is what I did. I went to each fresh mound and I used a 1/4 in x 3 foot fiberglass tomato stake to poke down around the gopher mounds. After you break through the surface, you can feel weather there is a tunnel or not. If you feel constant resistance, no tunnel. If you feel the stake break through and no resistance you have found the tunnel. Once I found the tunnel, I use a 1/2 inch x 3 foot sprinkler line and pressed it down into the same hole that I used the tomato stake. This formed a 1/2 in hole down into the tunnel. Then I made a paper funnel because I did not have a plastic one. I put the funnel into the 1/2 inch hole and I dropped two scoops of pellets into the hole. (product comes with a little yellow scoop) Then I covered that hole where I put the pellets. I am on my 3rd day with this gopher killer product and today I woke up to only 2 new gopher mounds instead of my normal 6-8. It is very clearly working and I have no doubt that soon they will all be gone and I can begin work on fixing my back yard up again with a roto tiller, rake, and lawn seed. I highly recommend that you do wear gloves, make sure you do not breath the fumes of this stuff, and be sure to cover each hole that you drop pellets in. I am also concerned about a gopher dying outside of the hole and my beagle eating it and so I also look for dead rodents but I have not found any. Be sure to pick up each and every dropped pellet so that your chickens or other animals do not eat it. Overall, I give this an excellent review and recommend this product.
