(2024 Upgrade) AIPER Surfer S1 Solar Powered Robotic Pool Skimmer with APP Support, Monitor Pool Temperature, 12 Hour Battery Life, Dual Charging Modes, Ideal for All Swimming Pool Types

I recently purchased the Aiper Surfer S1 Pool Surface Skimmer, and I couldn’t be more impressed! The unit has a solid, durable feel, thanks to the high-quality plastic material. The basket is extremely spacious and sturdy, capturing an impressive amount of surface debris with ease. One of my favorite features is the solar charging, which keeps the skimmer running without the need for constant A/C charging or attention. The Aiper app is a game-changer. It gives me complete control over the unit and real-time updates on its activity. If the skimmer ever gets stuck, I can effortlessly free it up by manually controlling it from the app without even needing to see the unit! Or I can just turn it off and let it drift away from the trouble spot and then start it back up all with the app. This level of control and convenience is unmatched. Having tried both the Surfer S1 and the Betta SE Plus, I can confidently say the Surfer S1 is the superior choice, especially on windy days. Being that the Betta SE Plus is lighter, the added weight of the Surfer S1 gives it the stability to perform better in challenging conditions. The Surfer S1 has excellent avoidance guidance sensors. On top of all that, Aiper’s customer service is phenomenal. I had a minor issue with the first unit shutting off early, but Sandy from Aiper immediately sent me a replacement. She provided top-tier service and even shared a promo code to help me save a little on the purchase. I’ve never experienced such outstanding customer care. With fall leaves soon to be an issue, especially for those like me who keep the pool open year-round, the Surfer S1 is a must-have. Don’t hesitate to buy—it’s a fantastic investment! EDITED: I had a problem with the Surfer getting stuck on the first step into the pool at a certain water level even with the leg extenders down to prevent it from going over that step. I purchased a short black rubber 3/4"ID heater hose, cut a 2" section warmed up the end of the hose to make it softer and then slid it up over the leg extender for just the 2 front legs, now the Surfer bumps that shallow step and doesn't get the under belly stuck on that step anymore with the very changing water level. The hose is black so its not even noticeable.

Had it for a few months before deciding to write a review . Has some major flaws that makes it extremely annoying . One of them is that it turns off on its own and it won't charge when it does, you have to constantly fish it out and manually charge it . Full charge without running it and it will disconnect, die and stop charging . I reinstalled the app, the product, charged it 100% and the same issue over and over again . It disconnects and you have to press the power button to either turn it on or take it out and charge it with defeats the solar power option . It loses power without running it . Get's stuck non stop as well and when it does it sits in the stuck position for a long time . So if you think this should be hassle free , think again .

So far this surface skimmer does everything it says it will do. Customer support is great, the first one I had just would not charge up in the sun. I thought it was due to my pool screen but when I called Aiper products support they told me to ship it back and I had the new one in a week. I charged it up, put it in the pool and off it went. It’s been running continuously for over 2 and a half weeks, it usually gets fully charged by afternoon and then runs through to evening or night. When charge is finished. My only complaint is that it will bump into my pool handle and get stuck (picture) but after awhile it gets around this. I just wish it would work itself out quicker. The other thing is if I let my water level get down too much it gets stuck on the tanning shelf and I have to push it off.. that’s my fault though. Overall I’m giving it all 5 stars because it does what it says it will do and I’m loving the fact that I don’t have to take it out everyday. Ohh I might mention… you should clean it out regularly……I did find a couple of dead frogs in the basket. I can’t figure out why they didn’t get out the way though.

I've had a few months now. Once I charged to 100% the night before, I did all the hook up to my network and phone. App works really well, for the most part. I've noticed reviews about connection issues and delays when in manual. I don't have that, but I do have a 1G Access Point near my pool and that helps a lot to use the manual mode when it gets stuck. I have noticed that the app will lose connectivity with the Surfer and I have to reconnect to it again. This happens a bit more than I care for. But when connected, I have no issues. 2 small issues that keep me from giving 5 starts. The suction of my skimmer is such that if the Surfer gets close to the wall by the skimmer it will get sucked into the skimmer opening and stay there as the props do not have enough power to get away from that suction. I put a pool noodle in there to block the opening to allow the Surfer to Skim past it...but that does not work either. Once the pool is off, it gets free and moves along just fine. Another issue is that I have an umbrella in my Sun Shelf and if the Surfer moves into it just right...it gets stuck there and doesn't move. I find it weird that the unit does not detect when it's set in a stuck position and advises you it is..but it does not back up to get out of that situation. Maybe an update will come for that. Overall..I love the fact it works everyday all the time and with the amount of sun I get on my pool during the day...battery is always charged and ready to go. Next is the Scuba Model to clean the bottom. If you have a cleaner that uses a hose, you cannot use the Surfer at the same time..the hose will catch the Surfer and won't allow it to clean properly. I am satisfied with the product and I would recommend.

Have been using for a couple years now and still does a fantastic job keeping the pool clean.
