Dragon Ball Super, Vol. 23: Volume 23

Perfectly bound and printed. The cover is in colour, but the pages inside are b/w. They are translated in English, but bound as a proper, genuine manga (so you read them "backwards"). I've bought my partner all the installments that have been published so far (and looking forward to the future ones) and they're a pleasure to read and collect. If you get the complete series and put them on a shelf in order, one after the other, you'll notice the design on the spines create a big, beautiful illustration.

A big fan of dragon ball and I bought this for my son and he enjoys it as much as I do when I was at his age.

Really good manga adaptation of the Super Hero film.

The all-out action packed ending to the Superhero movie version of Dragonball Super. Cell Max is active and reaching his full power. Can Piccole lead the other to defeat this monster? It will all come down to Gohan. Also, what have Goku and Vegeta up to?

First and most importantly, rest in peace Akira Toriyama-san, the man who invented Dragon Ball who unfortunately passed away March 1st. Thank you for all the years of bad-assery, cool fights, wacky adventures and epic transformations. Now onto this volume itself; this basically wraps up the story of the Cell Max arc which is a retelling adaptation of the Super Hero movie. Personally, I think this is the weakest arc in Dragon Ball's history but this volume does do a bit extra in the story telling, giving more time to Trunks and Goten teaming up with Gamma 1 and 2, pushing more of the super hero angle this arc started with. However, it's also riddled with sudden power spikes and character development which, in my opinion, is pulled out of nowhere simply to fit with the immediate narrative. It's nice to see all the current players joining in with the fight, some nice team moves and Piccolo going back to using some tricks we haven't seen since Dragon Ball but the sudden shift in powers and Cell Max himself just being a big roaring monster who is seemingly on par with the current climate of scale is a little confusing. The arc was nice to have some world building on Earth but this volume is a long fight for the whole book, fighting a swinging barbarian so it gets a bit stale to read through.
