Foundations of Software Testing ISTQB Certification

This is an excellent book that was co-authored by some of the people that helped found the ISTQB organization. In my opinion, this is the best book to learn about the foundations of software testing for the ISTQB foundation level exam -- and even just in general. The book is easy to read and gives very good details. Chapter 4, the most technical of the chapters (because it shows you advanced test design techniques) is explained easily, yet effectively, as well. Even though I knew quite a bit about software testing before reading this book, I learned quite a bit from it. As a result, I passed my ISTQB foundation level exam. And I believe that someone with no experience could also pass the exam by learning (and being able to apply what they learned to real life situations) from this book.

This is a good text to get a basic understanding and foundation for software testing. It is quite applicable to organizations that have an established waterfall development methodology, or one that requires heavier documentation or process. We are putting all of our quality assurance engineers and developers through a customized course, based on this text, then having them take the ISTQB certification exam. I WISH the authors would have spent more time on Agile tools and techniques, because that is where I think the future of software development and testing lies, but this text gives everyone a basic understanding and foundation.

Need to pass the ITQSB Foundations exam? This is the book for you. I don't say this because the book helped me--it didn't. I purchased copies of this book for anyone on my testing team who wanted to get the certification. So far, two have taken the exam and both passed with scores above 80% (65% is passing). Four more are lined up to take the exam first quarter of next year. So far, so good. Two other comments. First, if you see "Rex Black" on a book, you know it's going to be good. If you are a software tester and never heard of Rex Black, shame on you. This man is a god among testers. I learned more from his books than anywhere else. You should read his stuff. Second, when studying for the test and taking the exam, throw out EVERYTHING you know about testing. DO NOT try to reconcile what is in the book to what you do on the job. It will drive you insane and you will not do well on the test. Stick to the book and you'll be fine.

This book togheter with the syllabus is all you need to ace the test. I did 2 months of intensive study and I manage to pass the test. This is "The Book" you are looking for. Im a spanish speaker and had no trouble understanding the book as it is clear and well explained. One thing I had trouble with was the US Postal service, the delivered the book and stuck it into the mailbox without enough care, the covers got damage and some pages.

It is the Indian version of the book.

If you are preparing for ISTQB certification this book is really good. I am not sure how many employers are looking for certified people. <Up Date> I am now certified....

This wonderful book is for anyone looking to start or enhance their career in the software testing field. I also recommend this book for IT investment managers for an appreciation of what it takes to produce quality software and make to appropriate decisions. With this book, passing the ISTQB was a breeze but I found the book to be far more that just test-prep material - you can use the information right away on the job. It makes a handy reference for improving testing and the entire life-cycle processes.

This is a great book for those who are preparing for the Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) by ASTQB. The book covers all the topics of the CTFL Syllabus in a simple language. Highly recommend this book. I just took one month to prepare for the CTFL using this book, took the only mock exam at the end of the book, and scored a 90% in the CTFL Exam.

The book was very helpful for me passing the exam. But the material I mean the quality of the pages was not upto the mark. It felt like a cheap print.

Livre excellent pour toute personne désirant obtenir la certification ISTQB niveau fundation. Attention, il est en anglais. Je dirai même plus, ce livre (ou plutôt le niveau fondation de l'ISTQB) devrait être obligatoire dans toutes les écoles d'ingénieurs! The product (book) was good (Sealed piece) and was in new condition without any defects. I had a bad experience when bought through Jaico Publishing house, the book was not a sealed piece and more than 10 pages were missing . Thank u UBSPD for a great product. Review Edit 07-Apr-2016 :) Applied for Exam through Indian Testing Board (ITB) on 23-Mar-2016. ITB doesnt allow Fraud and is very strict, and every one (employers) knows it, so i have chosen to attempt the exam through ITB for getting certified. Exam was scheduled on 6-Apr. The exam was tough and not so easy. I am saying it only after going through the length and breadth of the syllabus. The main criteria of the exam will be confusing us with the very close answers. This book helps really well with very easy to remember practical examples and i think its a must for everyone who want to attempt the exam fairly. Finally the moment is achieved. I CLEARED THE EXAM....wwooooohhh.... a big relief and i am very happy that this book helped me :) You should study the whole book, attempt mock exams in book and must know all Glossary terms. Also go through the exam dumps in online (some 34 sets i think available for free in internet ) and try them before attempting the exam. Dont think that the exam will be easy. If u get easy questions (not all will be easy) in the exam u will be lucky but the chances are 50:50. So prepare well before attempting the exam. All the Best for everyone. Cheers :)

I bought this for my ISTQB foundation exam and I passed it. You don't really need any training session, just read it, complete the exercises and mock exam in the book and you are good to go. I would recommend it to anyone who want to prepare for their ISTQB foundation exam.
