Obviously, you should test your soil first (if it’s alkaline, your plants won’t be able to use the phosphorus and if your soil is already high in phosphorus, adding more could result in higher phosphorus in runoff that contributes to algae bloom), but this is a great all-around amendment. Low Nitrogen means it is less likely to burn roots, Phosphorus boosts blooms and fruiting, and bone meal is excellent as a source of calcium, which can help you avoid blossom end-rot.

Great product. When tomatoes show purple on their leaves, it usually means a phosphorus deficiency. Bone meal to the rescue! It's not powdery but small enough granules to break down quickly. A good balance.

This is a very large bag (24 lbs.) of bone meal. I didn't pay close attention to just how much the bag weighed. I chose it for the trusted brand and the unit price (I'm a frugal shopper). I use it when I'm transplanting my seedlings into the garden or when I see some of my leaves yellowing. Recently, we have been going through our 17-year wave of cicadas, and they are damaging my fruit trees and fruit bushes. They lay their eggs in the soft woody parts and kill entire branches. I've made a first application of this and will follow with a liquid fertilizer to help support my young fruit trees in their recovery. I will update after the trees get some time to absorb the nutrients. This is a picture of my peach tree after I had already pruned off many damaged branches. I hope this product will help it recover and survive.

I’m a second year, micro flower farmer, and this year I had a problem with my spring flower beds. When I prepared them last fall, they still had a good deal of wood chips that hadn’t broken down completely. I knew it was going to be a risk, whether the soil would be ready for the spring, but I wasn’t in a position to buy more soil last fall. Long story, short, my spring plants this year Had stunted growth because the wood chips were tying up too much nitrogen in the soil. I purchased this bonemeal too quickly replenish the nitrogen and hopefully give my plant a boost. This product worked great! My plants have responded and are putting out new growth and it looks like I will still get a flower crop from many of them.
