I gave it 4 stars because it has multiple games and you can play chess with just pawns and kings, rooks, etc, I love these features. I took away 1 star because my unit does not have any easy games and it’s very discouraging. The whole reason I wanted a stand alone unit is that my games aren’t manipulated by some outside force. I was really hoping easy mode meant I could win some games. Nope. Computer always wins. It’s like playing against a grand champion. I’d probably have more fun on a game from the App Store.

If you like chess, checkers, and fox & geese, youll love this affordable little computer game.
Perfect little chess game with very high rating 2,800 elo. Batteries last forever, very nicely lit screen and stylus other games are a huge bonus, of course always checkers but i like fox and geese best besides chess. Very good learning beginning levels 1-5 ,also takeback mode to lewrn mistakes better great little game.

Complicated Menu
I bought this game for my 14 year old son. The menu is extremely complicated and non intuitive. Most commands are either 2 letter abbreviations or symbols that don’t make much sense. The user manual is over 50 pages. It seems to me, who has a graduate level education, that you should not need to consult the user manual to do anything but play the base game that opens at start up. For example, trying to input simple commands such as “turn off/down sounds” makes you navigate multiple menu selections, understand that the abbreviation SN means sound and within that menu 0 means off and 1 means on, but there is no way to turn the sound down. The game itself is fine, but making any adjustments are so complicated that you eventually give up and revert back to the base game.
