ATEQ ATQ-VT36-0000 - TPMS Sensor Activation and Programming Tool

Firstly lets get into the tools that Tire Rack wants you to buy. After a several calls and 2 of those devices (they are ATEC tools) I bit the bullet and ordered this. Sure its 4 times more expensive but a tool that doesn't work isn't worth a penny. I got this and in under a minute I activated and recorded all the TPMS sensors. No sweat, no hassles. I am pleased that it is a simple to operate with a fairly easy to use interface. Although I read the instructions a person could operate this tool without delving into the instructions too deeply. Bravo to ATEC.

I was only able to get this to read the IDs and pressure of my tire sensors (both OEM and aftermarket). Even after installing the update to ensure my 2017 WRX was on the list I was unable to get it to copy my OEM tire sensors to my new aftermarket Schrader sensors and I could not get it to create new IDs. I tried everything I could think of to get this to work but ultimately ended up going to a local tire shop anyway. I returned the item.

According to my email exchange with ATEQ customer service, the VT36 comes from ATEQ in more than one version....this "particular" VT36 - based on it's software version - is not designed to "program" TPMS sensors, just activate them. It also cannot be software updated to do so. The listing description for this unit, and ATEQ's website description for the VT36 in general, describes it as an activation/TPMS sensor programming tool. I guess that is depending upon the software installed by ATEQ. So I have a set of new, blank Schrader TPMS sensors that I want to clone to my OEM sensors, and this VT36 unit will not program them... Why build multiple different units under one VT36 model number that have the ability to do different things, and advertise them all as being the same??? Buyer beware.... False advertising, poor product design.

Did not work for me could not program tpms. Really wish it would have worked for me. Pretty well diverse in electronics just could not get my vehicle programmed into the device like shown.

Product is advertised as having one year of free updates and yet mine says the updates expired three months before I purchased the tool. ATEQ says contact the supplier for an update code. The website bosch-automotive.com does not even list the device and yet that's the only website indicated with the product.

The software license that it shipped with was obsolete so I called ATEQ support. They had me send them a copy of the invoice and they updated my license so that I had one year of free updates. Once they did that I was able to update the firmware. Once the firmware was updated it worked on my 2018 Honda Goldwing Tour DCT.

Well like my title says it'll grab the ID of your tpms sensors.... However, you'll need Ateqs quick set tool as well to program your Tpms sensors. But all said and done it's worth the money saved instead of paying the professional grease monkeys huge flat pay rate.

If you need it to program/activate, as advertised, look at other options and contact the seller before hand. Don't buy this unit. Long story of frustrations and job delays short, I contacted the manufacturer (whose customer service is great) and gave them the software version. They confirmed this is a read only and can not be updated. I will be returning this unit and looking for another.
