From visionary filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, Challengers stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court. Married to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist – West Side Story), Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor – The Crown) – his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend. As their pasts and presents collide, and tensions run high, Tashi must ask herself, what will it cost to win. Review: A Dynamic and Cinematic Character Study - I must admit that I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie. Challengers (2024) impressively avoids being a boring and typical melodrama. The story of a love triangle (between a rather obnoxious trio) set in the world of professional tennis with three different competitive personalities and three career paths. Engagingly told in a fractured narrative that I felt enhanced the drama, and filmed with an aggressively stylish cinematic approach. The direction is solid, and acting well done, but it is the dynamic, creative cinematography, flashy editing, and the driving score, that make the film exciting and memorable, with the look and feel of a music video or artistic commercial. As with most of Luca Guadagnino's work, this may be an acquired taste. I enjoyed this film more than the director's other work, though I do recommend I Am Love (2010), A Bigger Splash (2015), and even the Suspira (2018) "remake". Also recommended: Past Lives (2023) and Bernardo Bertolucci's The Dreamers (2003). Unfortunately, this Blu-ray is completely lacking in extra content- some insight from the director and cast would have been nice. Review: Fantastic Movie. - Rather than the same old Hollywood trash, this movie treats its audience with respect and assumes we have a brain. Fantastic intricate plot, great acting, and great (non-graphic but still sexy) sex scenes. A must see!

A Dynamic and Cinematic Character Study

Boring and too much time jumping
Very boring film with no purpose. She always plays the same non emotional, blank stare, non caring person in any film or series I see her. The constant time jumping is trying to get you to understand the backstory but convinces me its just bad story planning. In the trash.

ENGROSSING
Fun and entertaining but not a great film, simply a very, very good one. All the principals are extremely in step and quite persuasive, a different look at tennis! Hats off to Guadagnino who offers an easy, good watch.

Luca Guadagnino the genuis you are
This movie has so many great artistic elements and the soundtrack is amazing! The actors embody their characters well and the tension between the trio is palpable. If you are looking for a cliché sports romance film this is not it. Luca (the director) does what he does best and highlights the subtleties of body language, eye contact, and indirect forms of communication. This film embodies the back-and-fourth of a tennis match with past and current events bouncing around to fill in the players history. When the music plays the game is on! If you want to turn your brain off and simply be entertained I’d recommend watching a dry cookie cutter movie if that’s all you think you can handle, or you can watch a great film, which is what this is. Disclaimer: The movie is homoerotic but not explicitly gay as the characters (Tashi and Art are married with a kid). *If that’s not your cup of tea don’t waste your time and please don’t leave a review tainted with your religious bias.

Riveting drama
My current movie of the year. From the cinematography to the music both utilized perfectly to enhance the already fantastic character drama acted by superb actors. The use of tennis as a metaphor for a relationship is a brilliantly done and constant motif throughout the entire movie, love it. The suspense builds and builds into one of the best climaxes I've seen in a few years, last 10 minutes had me leaning forward hands on my head. TLDR: If you like a sultry, competitive, toxic mess of a love triangle, I highly suggest giving Challengers a shot

Game. Set. Match
This was an incredible movie. Zendaya’s character is artfully done, powerful, manipulative in the best way, and drives those boys wild. Speaking of the boys, polar opposites, one clean sexy and one dirty sexy, one who obeys and one who tests the waters, with an almost seductive tension over a shared love. The competition on and off the court can push you to be the champ. Challengers 2 needs to be a reunion back to the court together with her by their side.

En mycket bra och lärorik film, åtminstone för mig.
En mycket bra och intressant film. Jag tycker mycket om den. Man får mycket lärdom av den.

Good movie but shame about the flimsy case.
Box is abit flimsy mostly due to a huge hole cut out of it on the inside for a recycle logo to tell you that you cant recycle the type plastic the case is made from. It makes me worry the paper cover could get damaged. The print of the paper and the plastic film are so loose im (again) worried about possible damage. Ive seen people whove burned dvds/cds do a better job at printing covers and fitting them ect with a less sloppy plastic film over it than this. It was cheap so i dont mind, i just love physical media. Havent had a chance to play it yet x

Excellent film
Image blu ray et musique excellente. Un film dans la même veine que the social network. Cela faisait longtemps que je n’avais pas vu un film aussi bien filmé et joué. Un incontournable !
