Any metal versions? I know for a fact they melt easy on flattop grills.

Have not had any issue with the design. The desposeable pads protect the handle from the heat.

Is this item dishwasher safe?

I don't know if it list dishwasher safe but i have ran it through the dishwasher at least 5 times so far. It has been fine.

Will this work with the doodlebug pads?

Yes it should. The face where the pad goes has little spikes that should hold the pads very well. I use the 3M pads and you can use the pad and the pad will hold onto a screen for heavy duty cleaning.
