Having acquired a tractor trailer truck load of lubricants / cleaners I can safely attest that none of them will scare the dirt off of your gun, protect if from rust in all conditions and forever or make it work every time. That said, this product made the cut and has ended up being one of the 3 or 4 gun cleaning products I consistently use for the last couple of years. For me, it fits the role I'd otherwise give to Hoppes 9 as a thin bore-cleaner with the added benefit that it probably protects your bore from rust better. Plus, the smell doesn't run my family out of the room. It is a CLP so you could use it that way but I mostly use it for bore cleaning.
