Before I go on any trips with my cameras, I always clean all the lenses, filters, and parts of my camera bodies that I'm taking with. EXCEPT for the sensor—I bring a basic kit with me so that I can do this if needed, but my feelings about sensor cleaning is that it should only be done when necessary. And, given the cost (not to mention the temporary loss of use) of damaging a sensor, I want to make sure that I'm using the best materials for the job. I'm not sure if Photo Solutions was the very first company that marketed user products aimed at sensor cleaning, but they were certainly one of the first. They have several generations of cleaning solution and swab experience, which counts for a lot, in my book. There is one possible aspect where their swabs may not be the best for your use—if you have a more deeply recessed sensor, (typically DSLR) then a swab that tapers outwards towards the business end might work better for you. Several companies make those. With the "Mirrorless" cameras I've been using the squarish shape of the Ultra swabs is easy to use. Usually a single swabbing (two passes) is enough to work, but at least once it took me three swabbings to get the sensor clean. Not part of the review, but, since I have extra time today, here's my take on sensor cleaning: Most newer cameras have an "anti-dust" mechanism, (usually a high frequency vibration) that you can set to working either on camera turn-on or turn-off. If you're not sure if your camera has this feature, look through the manual and make sure it's turned on; this does help. Practice keeping the body facing downwards when you change lenses. And, speed counts—the less exposed your sensor is to the open air, the less chance for dust to get in. I'm also careful to see that the back of the lens I mount is dust free. (Note that the dust can be too small to see by naked eye, but if you see any dust, clean it off.) I usually do this before taking the mounted lens off. Yeah, the swabs are expensive. My newest camera uses 33 mm swabs—don't even ask what those cost. But I still follow their instructions, and only do two passes with a swab, flipping the swab so each side only gets used once. I always use a squeeze blower (NOT a compressed air canister) to blow out the cavity before swabbing. I wait until I see the first signs of "shadow dots" — almost always on open sky or light colored backgrounds, and then I test to make sure that they are dust spots. (Close the aperture down to f11 or f16, ISO to lowest setting, manually UNFOCUS the image, and shoot either a plain surface (white paper) or the sky. That'll tell you. And, when I'm done cleaning, I test again. I do have a lit magnifier specifically for looking at sensors; I'm not sure if it was money well spent or not.

Sensor Cleaning Swab Kit - Eclipse Optic Cleaning Solution (0.5oz/15ml) + Type-1 Sensor Swab Ultra 20mm (Pack of 6) - for APS-H CMOS and CCD Sensors - Dust & Oil Remover First impressions: Nice box full of 6 swabs for cleaning your digital camera sensor. Be sure to use the right size for your sensor. Installation/setup: Please review your camera’s manual to learn how to expose the sensor. Be sure your camera battery is fully charged before proceeding and any loose dust or dirt has been safely blown off with a blower or brush. After you review the manual AND have seen our video demo, you are ready to clean your sensor. With one side of the swab, firmly drag it across the sensor. Repeat in the opposite direction using the clean side of the swab. Please discard swab after use. Repeat if necessary with a new swab. Release camera shutter and replace lens. Do not remove the swab from plastic bag until you are ready to use it. Dirt on the swab can scratch the sensor, so always remember to leave in plastic bag and immediately discard swab after use. NOTE: The use of zoom lenses or bellows will increase the amount of contaminants within the sensor area and more frequent cleaning may be needed. When used as directed Sensor Swab® ULTRA digital imaging sensor cleaner is easy and safe to use and yields excellent results! Final thoughts: The swabs in this kit are quite nice for cleaning my camera sensor. I'm fairly careful with lens swaps so it's rare that I actually need to clean my sensor so 6 swabs will last me a long time. I don't like to clean sensors due to risk of damage but the reality is you are cleaning a layer of glass on top of the actual sensor so the risk is pretty low. The cleaning solution should also be good for lens glass, screens, etc but I don't think the swabs are a very good shape for lenses so you'd probably want to use your own lint free wipes for that. ⭐️1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality. ⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality is ok for what it is. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.

I try my best to keep it clean as I really don't want to clean the sensor area often. This would be my second time in the past many years of owning it where I actually cleaned the sensor. The swabs were convenient to use and designed in a way that let me clean it without contaminating it. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Prior to using it I did try using my cameras sensor cleaning option as well as using a small air blower to get as much off as I can. This cleaner did a great job and everything cleaned off with no notable scratches and I was able to take good pictures again.

This kit works really well to clean my DSLR, and one thing that I really enjoy is that you know you are getting a high quality product that isnt going to destroy your very expensive cameras. It gives a good peace of mind.

I’m on the fence about this product. It only comes with six sensor swabs. What do you use when you run out? For the price, I would think you would get more swabs or at least the option to replace them. I used this and the drops come out really fast, so be mindful of that. I’m sure that there are enough drops in the bottle to clean more than six lenses. This cleaned okay, but it still had some streaks. I think you can do just as well with a cleaning cloth. I’m not sure if I would purchase this kit again. But for now, it does work and I’m happy with the results. I just kept using the swab until the streaks were gone by going in different directions and flipping it over.
