Review: A Smashing Good Time for All Ages - Just finished off the 2.0 Avengers campaign. I have to say, it was a total blast from start to finish (no pun intended). The character sculpts are wonderful, and in game, Iron Man and Thor are the two you're going to play with the most. The Black Widow is fast with hand to hand combat, but she just doesn't have the same impact as the other two heroes. I must admit, however, building up her skill levels results in some very cool dual handed bullet bursts. This makes her one deadly force in the Power Disc game, Escape from Klyn. In the main adventure, Black Widow's disadvantage is that she can't fly, so getting around New York City at decent pace requires a vehicle. Oh, they're readily available right from the start, but it kills the high energy flow when having to make pit stops to summon fast transportation. With Iron Man and Thor, you press a button, you levitate and another button sends you soaring at heart pumping speeds - - no wheels required. I can't comment on the other characters, as I haven't opened anything additional, but I'm getting ready to dive into Guardians of the Galaxy. Yes, there are TONS of enemy frost creatures on the Loki side of the fence, so get use to fighting the same type of icy cold enemy over and over (with variations in their sizes and abilities). Also, like the 1.0 edition, missions can feel repetitive at times. This may bother some, but between the number of awesome moves, and the very welcomed Skill Tree, every fight felt like grand scale mayhem The insane abilities and special moves of your Super Hero are a sight to behold. Even the interaction with the surroundings is so well done. I also found the missions to be less frustrating then some of drawn out ones from 1.0 (except for Pirates which was my fav from that set). There is so much to do with the starter set, that you really feel like you're getting your money's worth. You have the main campaign, plus the two power discs, each containing their own full game. These power disc-based games are of much smaller scale when compared to the main adventure, but believe me, both games are beefy enough to stand on their own. Interestingly enough, it appears there are two more games (as the menu shows) ready for when Brave and Stitch are released. Plus you have the official playsets that are sold separately ( Guardians of the Galaxy and Ultimate Superman). Then of course, all roads lead to the beloved Toy Box where you can do just about anything. Avalanche studios packed in an insane amount of new toys, gadgets, interiors (now you can build indoors), landscapes, skyboxes and more. If you don't feel like you have the skills or time to build your own game, then download one of many offerings from the community. One of the best changes to the new 2.0 system is the way you obtain new objects from the Toy Box. Gone is that annoying, random "Wheel of Misfortune" style toy dispenser where you had to rely on luck to get the item you needed; now you simply purchase items with blue sparks which are easily earned throughout your adventures. No more spending your life backtracking through a completed game to try to find toys you may have missed. Not all items are readily available, but as you make a purchase, more goodies are unlocked through a branching system. There are a number of other areas I didn't cover (hall of heroes / Super heroes, survival mode, the game-like tutorial, etc..), but overall, I say if you're a Marvel SH fan, this is the game you want. In fact, this makes the best use of the franchise yet! You may find yourself addicted enough to start collecting all the characters, even the 1.0 cast, who work perfectly in the 2.0 ToyBox (they too have stats now!). And in closing, I'm of many fans who have a feeling that the next in the series will be Star wars (2015). Talk about a new hope!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I am getting the kids a PS4 for Christmas and want to get the Infinity as well. What is the "toy Box" ? I see that for "Stitch and Meranda" set. Is that the same as the "Marvel" set. (besides the characters) do I need both to play? any info is greatly appriciated.**
A: First of all "ToyBox" is a game mode in Disney Infinity - I'll get to that later. "PlaySets" and "ToyBox Starter Packs" both include the two important parts of the system: 1. The Game Disc - goes into the PS4; you can't use any of the Disney Infinity 2.0 items without it in the console.2. The Infinity Base - plugs into the USB port on the front of the PS4, and has three spots on top of the base - 2 circle-shaped spots (where you put the figurines) and one semi-hex shaped spot (where you put the PlaySet Adventure or the ToyBox "discs"). The figurines you place on the Infinity Base specify the characters you'll be using in the game itself, while the PlaySet Adventure or the ToyBox discs you put in the semi-hex spot specifies the game mode. There are two types of game modes in Disney Infinity 2.0:A. "PlaySet Adventure" Mode - this is the campaign mode where you can have two people play through a complete adventure that is directly tied to the characters you're using. For example, the Avengers adventure sees them fighting against Loki, the Guardians adventure sees them taking on events directly related to the movie. Imagine this mode as taking all your related toys (i.e. all your Avengers action figures) and reliving the movie or expanding on it.B. The "ToyBox" mode - this is more open-world, where you can mix and match Disney Infinity characters that don't normally go together (i.e. Iron Man and Elsa) and play various mini games or challenges - but there's no actual Adventure game directly related to the characters. Imagine this mode as getting together with your friends bringing whatever toys you have (even if they're not related to each other) and using your imagination to create your own adventure. Now then - The Merida/Stich starter pack is not a full PlaySet - it's a "ToyBox Starter Pack" set - meaning that unlike the Marvel PlaySets, there's no dedicated "Adventure" game included that is specific to Merida and the "Brave" movie, nor is there a specific adventure game related to the "Lilo and Stich" movie. You only get the "ToyBox" mode mentioned above. However the Merida/Stich pack does include the PS4 game disc as well as the Infinity Base - so you can buy this along with a PS4 and get going right away.Side note: Make sure you begin with a Infinity 2.0 PlaySet. The older 1.0 characters and 1.0 ToyBox discs are all compatible with a 2.0 PlaySet, but only 2.0 stuff works with 2.0 stuff.

**Q: Will Amazon offer the PS4 "Collector's Edition" for pre-order w/ Hulk Exclusive?**
A: Yes, they do now... but what a rip off (in my opinion)! It's an extra $105, and all you get is a display stand plus 3 extra figures (with the Hulk being an early exclusive before it sells individually in October). When you can get the Standard edition with an extra figure for FREE (pre-order bonus), then you could use that on another Avenger. So you're then only two figures short of the Collector's edition. Each figure is $14 each, so $105 - $14 - $14 = $77... so you better think that display stand is worth $77 if you order it! In other words, I could buy the Standard edition ($75), use my pre-order bonus to get Captain America for FREE, and buy Hawkeye ($14) and Hulk ($14 in October) for only $75 + $14 + $14 = $103... and the only difference between that and the $180 Collector's edition is the display stand. Technically, you can get the same pre-order bonus (a free character) with the Collector's edition and could use it on a non-Avenger (I recommend Rocket Raccoon since he's the only individual figure that also works with the included Avengers play set)... but then you're still valuing the display stand at $77 - $14 = $63! Wouldn't you rather buy another game for $60?

**Q: what is the difference between the ps4 and ps3 base? would they work cross platform since I assume they are both usb?**
A: Absolutely nothing. The kids are using the base they got with the Wii U 1.0 version on the PS4 2.0 version and it works perfectly fine.

**Q: I see this offered with characters from other Disney realms. Can the figures be used on this game or do you need to buy a different disk?**
A: The disc that comes with the Marvel 2.0 Starter Pack can be used with any of the Disney or Marvel figures that Disney Infinity has produced thus far (whether the 1.0 or 2.0 version) in regards to the Toy Box. The individual playset pieces can only be played with by the specific figures related to that story. Also, currently, the two game discs that come in this starter pack can only be played by Marvel figures.
