Gaming & Workstation performance on a budget!
AMD Ryzen 5 5600G is an excellent value for money proposition. For those who want good performance at lower price point it does not get better than this. This processor uses the older AM4 socket and only supports DDR4 The cooler (wraith stealth) in the box comes with thermal paste applied. Do not touch it! there is no sticker on top of it and can be installed directly on top of CPU. There are you tube videos that help with this step Do not buy motherboards greater then those based on the B450 chipset. This processor can only use PCie3.0 and not PCIe4.0 therefore motherboards based on B550 and above chipsets offer no performance improvements even at a higher price (note: if you are getting a separate GPU with PCIe 4.0 e.g. AMD radeon RX 6500XT or want to use NVMe SSD with M.2 and PCIe 4.0, you might want to look at AMD Ryzen 5600X, which supports PCIe4.0. Of course 5600X is more expensive and does not have iGPU) Processor is easy to install. The cineBench R23 score for this processor is around 10900 points (multi core) and 1500 points (single core) which is better than a 9th gen core i9 (the direct competitor for this processor from intel is the i5 12400, which has slightly better performance (10-15%) as it is newer. It is also pricier as are the compatible motherboards. Also it supports DDR 5 which 5600G does not. The iGPU in 5600G is vastly superior though ) The onboard Radeon Vega 6 graphics is also performative, with 30-40 FPS in modern games (tested with ghostrunner demo) at medium settings. This iGPU will hands down beat most or all intel iGPU and is a good choice for playing games on medium to low settings at 1080P without needing a separate GPU. If playing older games (prior to 2018) performance will be even better Always pair this processor with a dual RAM kit, never a single RAM stick, as Ryzen processor and the iGPU performance benefits from running memory in dual channel mode All the best with your new build! Edit: my component list with price is as follows (July 2023 prices. Indian rupees. In Dollars it is about 380 Dollars total) Ryzen 5 5600G processor-13,000 Rs Asus prime B450M II motherboard-7,500 Rs Adata XPG D50 DDR4 3200MT/s16Gb RAM kit - 4,500 Rs Gigabyte P450 power supply - 2,500 Rs Deepcool Matrexx SI 30 case - 2,300 Rs Total: approx 31,000 Rs Didn't need storage so didn't buy. Would strongly suggest a 512Gb/1Tb PCIe 3rd gen NVMe M.2 SSD for boot drive Would suggest a deepcool case Matrexx SI 40 or higher as that case would be easier to build in and cable manage I also bought a deepcool AK 400 cooler a month later as the thermals were poor. You may not need it, but if you do this is a good cooler at 2,400 Rs Edit: the included stock cooler is unable to handle the heat, with processor running at 45 to 50 degree celsius on idle and max workloads like cinebench and folding at home pushing it to theoretical max of 95 degrees. My case Deep cool matrexx sl30 results in 5-8 degree celsius higher temperature So separate cpu cooler required in my case.

My honest review to buy during the great ramchordich
Good for cyberpunk 2077, daily tasks, etc are really good for a budget cpu on the AM4 SOCKET, census specially during the RAM shortage where buying ddr5 a standard on AM5 is really expensive AM4 is the best choice.

Ryzen 5 5600G is an outstanding APU till date
Bought this APU about 9 months back when it was launched at a higher price or 28K INR. This APU met all my requirements. I got this for my daily work with light gaming. The only concern was the price to performance ratio and this APU topped it. The performance of this processor is outstanding for a workstation and for personal computing. I paired up this APU with a Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 with an XPG 16GB Gammix RAM running 3200 MHz. After using it for a couple of months here are the pros and cons:- Pros: a) You get a Zen3 Architecture processor. For consumers like us, it actually doesn't matter while buying the processor however it does. With the new Zen3, you get more cores squeezed into the CPU unit at a lesser price. b) It has a Vega 7 IGP or Graphics processor. The Vega 7 is an outdated Graphics processor. But it does perform well with the Zen3 architecture. AMD should have had an RDNA GPU integrated. c) The IGP is very powerful and theoretically, it runs every modern game at a lower resolution. d) Multicore performance is outstanding at this price. Very smooth performance when running muti core application. d) The Idle temperature is cooler at the base frequency of the processor. e) The CPU is unlocked for the overclocking, unlike any Intels. f) The Processor comes with a Wraith Stealth cooler (The Fan) which is a performant cooler. The wraith cooler doesn't work effectively when playing games and overclocking and will cause the processor to throttle its clock which will basically make the processing slower. A liquid cooler should be optional if you are tight on budget. Also, a fan not only cools the processor but it helps removes nearby hot air and cools the PCB and components under it such as an M.2 (Only if it is nearer to the CPU) Cons: a) Requires a good cooling solution when you overclock it or when running long and heavy processes. It goes above 80 degrees Celcius which is fine by AMD officially. b) AMD Radeon Adrenalin graphics driver is buggy at least on Windows 10. Windows 11 drivers are much better and sturdy. Beware when upgrading. c) Single-core performance is less than Intel's equivalent processor Core i5 11400. But it shouldn't matter since most modern applications utilize Multicore now. d) The processor has PCIe 3.0 interface which is 2x less than AMD Ryzen 5600X which is PCIe 4.0. If you plan to buy a GPU or an M.2 NVMe later, you may get lesser performance. The reason for AMD to choose PCIe 3.0 for 5600G may be due to the fact of maintaining the TDP of the processor. Overall I am very happy with this APU.

One of the best value CPUs out there
If you're playing games at 1080p, and not doing insane tasks, this is the right CPU for you. I had one before the one I just bought, and not being nearly as experienced with computers, I never monitored its temperature and it likely toasted itself over time. The new one, however, is working like a charm. If I have a tip for you, it's this. Step 1: Go to the searchbar on the bottom left and type choose a power plan, and then open. Step 2: You'll see the balanced (recommended) one. Click change plan settings. Step 3: Click change advanced power settings. Step 4: You'll see a list with some plus signs left of various things. Click the plus sign to the left of "processor power management". Step 5: Click the plus sign next to "maximum processor state". Step 6: Click the number (I assume it will be 100%) and change it to 99%. By following these steps, you'll limit the amount of power your CPU receives. Now, this isn't dangerous, provided you don't set the number really low. I first set it to 70% while following a video. Then I slowly increased it to 85%, and I noticed an insane drop in temperature (around 20-30c) while playing various games. Red Dead Redemption 2, for instance, was cooking my CPU beforehand, and then I turned down the variable and the high temperatures were gone. Now, does it affect performance in any way? It....can. The 5600G is a 6 core, 12 thread processor. When setting it to 85%, the base clock of 3.90GHZ dropped to around 3-3.16GHZ for me. I've noticed zero affect on performance. If there is an affect to performance, it would be a few frames in games, MAYBE. If that. And for browsing the web, I have yet to notice anything. Now of course, if you're planning to use the 5600G as an APU solely (if you don't have a graphics card), then I would be a little more careful with lowering the variable. But if you have a graphics card then I wouldn't worry at all. Some people don't recommend the card because "it's not good enough", but how is it not good enough? It shatters web browsing, gaming, streaming, and basically everything that the average PC gamer does on their machine. If we're talking about more advanced activities, then yeah. You might want a CPU that has more cores, or one that is able to reach a higher speed and overclock. If you're planning to build a computer that is just gonna game at 1080p-1440p with some web browsing, Discord and streaming on the side, it's the CPU for you. Just pay attention to your temperatures. The last 5600G I had cooked under my nose. Ryzens get pretty hot.

Dennoch total geniale CPU, wenn man kompakte PCs bauen will. Nachtrag Mai 2024: Immernoch total irre.
