Review: Freezer meal heaven - I am VERY skeptical about cookbooks but was desperate for something easy and dummy-proof. A lot of cookbooks you find that tote "5 ingredients or less" are usually; A. Unhealthy as heck or B. Not ACTUALLY five ingredients (Ex: calls for a sauce, or other ingredient that has to be made which is another 5 ingredients in itself). The book does call for "baseline" ingredients like olive oil, garlic, S&P, lemon juice... I think that's it. Working 40+ hours a week with chronic pain, I've found myself struggling to keep up with eating healthy and keeping a schedule. This book is... so realistic. It's also rekindled my passion for beans and canned vegetables. You can chuck a can of beans in anything for added protein and nutrients. I have yet to make any of the sauces or dressings, but I've made several of the chicken dishes, beef chili, meatloaf, breakfast items... (The peanut butter apple muffins are killer, and freeze amazingly) Made enchilada casserole tonight (a single dirty dish baybee), then turned around and threw together the crockpot white bean stew which is cooking right now. That will be divvied up into portions and froze for later days. The recipes call for very little salt if any in each dish, which is awesome. And it still tastes like good food you'd want to eat lol. Am I bragging about all the cooking I've done lately? ...well yeah. But also, if your heart has been broken by other "simple" cookbooks, don't be afraid to reach out and try and find love again. I could go on, but I think I'm rambling. Honestly on days I can't stay standing or don't have time to cook (OFTEN, my dudes) it's very comforting to know that there's a hot, homemade meal a microwave press away. Oh yeah! Each recipe also gives you serving size and nutritional facts, and whether it's freezer-friendly (a lot!), gluten free, vegan, dairy free, paleo... Usually I scour Google and Pinterest for easy, healthy recipes. But that's pretty much an Expert Mode goose chase. Sure, there are some recipes I know I'll probably never use (maybe with guests... We don't really eat pork and there are a couple pork recipes) but there are so many more that I'm excited to try out. :) Review: Truly Easy Recipes - I like this cookbook a lot. The recipes really are very simple, easy to follow, and extremely tasty. I really hate to cook, but with this cookbook, I am actually enjoying the experience. I have tried several breakfasts, stews, and one pot dishes, and I have not been disappointed with any of them. I did come across a few editing issues; for example, on page 126, the title states, "Spanish-Style Chicken in Tomato Sauce," when in fact, this is the continuation for the Light and Simple Chicken Parmesan. Also, on page 130, the dish has lemon in the title, but there is no lemon mentioned in the recipe. I added lemon zest to the finished dish and it was delightful! I have only come across these editing errors so far, and have not looked over every recipe carefully yet, but I would still recommend this cookbook. I have limited storage space and prep area, so having to only concentrate on five basic ingredients is a plus. There are no weird ingredients to find and the prep time is minimal and doesn't require unusual tools of any kind. I opted for the spiral bound version and this makes it easy to see the recipe I'm working on. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Truly Easy Recipes

Simple, delicious, and healthy meals for the family.
Iโve had the book about a week and we have really enjoyed it. All the recipes are simple, the ingredients are easily obtainable , and they taste great. There are a few typos and I noticed one of the pages that is a continuation was mislabeled, so that was a bit confusing. But overall it is a great book.

Not extremely impressed with outcomes
The recipes themselves are interesting and easy to follow. The ingredients are accessible. However Iโve found that a lot of the meals are not very flavorful and just okay at best. Most that I have tried, I would not make again because they were just not great.

Excellent Recipes!
This book is great. I've already made a few recipes and all have been great! It's so much easier to make recipes with fewer ingredients and there's much less clean up. So far, I've made: Tomato Soup: This was great, it is a very straightforward, it will not taste like a lot of tomato soups as there is no sugar or dairy added to the recipe. It was very fresh tasting and delicious, you could probably add just a splash of half and half, and it would still be pretty healthy. I added a spoonful of parmesan to each serving and it was great. Enchilada Casserole: Really great, it was even better the second night after it sat and the flavors developed. Chicken Pesto Pasta: Really superb! This is my favorite one so far, rich and creamy tasting, but still healthy! I would recommend this book to anyone.

My First Book Review For A Reason
I bought this book after getting newly married and wanting to sharpen up my cooking skills but also wanting to take on simple and quick ideas. I bought 2 books prior to this (I won't name) and they were misleadingly complex. This book is 100% true to the simple and quick meals. I made spaghetti for the first time and used the meatball recipe in this. The first time... oh man it took me an hour... The next time I made the dish I completed the entire dish and was sitting down eating in less than 20min. That's amazing ! The dishes are great and nothing "weird" like most healthy claiming books say. I also really enjoy that this book does give serving suggestions and nutritional information on the dishes. I highly recommend this! My favorite meals so far have been the meatballs, chicken parmesan and smoothies! 5/5 Stars

Not really 5 but delicious
Some ingredients aren't counted like salt, pepper, lemon and a few others. And some recipes list an ingredient that are actually another recipe in the book. The recipes are overall really good though.

This is a cookbook for real people in real life.
Honestly, I think this is the best cookbook out there. Not because it has the best recipes or anything like that, but because the recipes are good and practical. I mean you don't need hundreds of crazy or exotic ingredients to make a recipe. The book, as it says, is tailored for real life, for people who don't have all the time in the world to cook. I love it!

Shame no pictures
A well presented cookery book with lots of interesting recipes. Unfortunately ruined by the fact that there were no photographs of the finished dishes.
