Raspberry Pi 5-8GB Starter Kit - Turbo Cooled Edition - 32GB Memory (Aluminum Black)

I'm a professional IT person and tech enthusiast who finally decided to get a personal Raspberry Pi 5 8GB after using various Pi models as micro project systems at work over the last few years. This kit has just about everything you would want in a starter kit, from the actual Raspberry Pi, to a quality case with a cooling fan, to an included micro HDMI to full HDMI adapter, to an included microSD card with preinstalled Raspberry Pi OS—just to get you started. I found assembly quite simple; the instructions with pictures in the box were helpful, and they also included a QR code for a video demonstration. However, to sum up the build experience, line up the power button, then drop in the Pi, attach the fan cable and thermal pad, and then just screw the two sections of the case together. I decided to daily drive the included Raspberry Pi OS as a desktop system and found it to be an enjoyable albeit minimal Linux environment. My day one project was just to install Quake III Arena and host a listen server for me and a friend to enjoy on LAN against bots. While performance wasn't perfect, things went quite well. I have to admit, for the price, it's incredible how capable this computer is right out of the box. I'm really looking forward to experimenting more with other distros on this device and writing some Bash, Python, and PHP scripts along the way. I'm fairly familiar with Kali, and I definitely want to experiment with that distro on this lightweight computer. I'm waiting for an order of more microSD cards to be shipped so I can easily swap between OSes without having to reimage the system drive.

Pretty much everything you need for startup, though I kind of wish they didn't include the SD card because it's the one thing I usually end up not using. But the power supply, case, and everything else is pretty much ideal. This is usually what I'll buy if I am gifting a pi to one of the kids as a retro arcade station or whatnot.

The product was as described and arrived in a timely manner. The assembly instructions were very clear and the product is working well as of now.

Got this as a kit after I meticulosly searched for the components separately. You manage to save a bit and make sure you get the best possible performance out of it using both the 5A power supply and the active cooling. Even the case being metal serves as a thermal conductor to better dissipate heat! completely recommended to those looking for an afordable kit that contains all you need to be set and at max speed ona PI 5!

If fan noise bothers you, maybe stay with the Pi 4, or maybe another maker has a quieter fan. It sounds like a mosquito in your ear. If it's in a room that you're not in, it'll be okay, but beware this is loud!

Linux is super efficient and the distro made especially for the pi is awesome. You could ditch your clunky everyday desktop computer and use the PI5 instead. Really is fast enough to do your regular browsing and email. But -- that's not what it is made for. You can control all kinds of cool things like motors, cameras, sound and stuff. The PI just gets better and better and this one is amazingly fast.

I got it for a decent price and it has worked great so far!

Using this to decode rs232 data and display the numerals via the HDMI port. Wrote the ppm in Python. Super easy and fun project.

Llego en excelentes condiciones, super bueno para los proyectos que quería realizar. Actualmente la tengo como VPN casera, además le instale el PiHole para evitar anuncios molestos.

Perfecto, vino todo completo y bien organizado. Lo ocupo como router con OpenWRT y la raspi5 va sobrada, quizá le agregue una partición con OpenMediaVault para mi propio NAS (OpenWRT no llega ni a 5% de consumo de CPU, insisto, raspi 5 va sobrado). Recomendado al 100. Edit: Compré un router dedicado ER605 para hacer split-tunel con server relay en ec2 de aws (porque no quiero pagar IP pública a mi ISP), entonces dejé raspi con ubuntu server lts con servicios dockerizados, ahora si estoy dándole carga a la ram con mi asistente IA local gestionando todos los demás servicios (watchtower, nextcloud, pihole, bitwarden, mail, etc). 100/10 esta pi.

Me ha encantado esta compra, la carcasa es perfecta.
