## Description

If you are one of the many parents who are uncomfortable helping your child with math, then Dr. Wright's Kitchen Table Math: Books 1, 2 & 3 are for you! This three-book set starts with counting and covers all of elementary school math. The set provides step-by-step guides to how you can help your child develop math skills and do well in school. It also includes activities and games so that you and your child can have fun while exploring these early stages of your child's mathematical journey. Book 1 covers counting up to 100, single-digit arithmetic, and beginning fractions. It also has sections on geometry, time, measurements, probability, and graphing. Book 2 focuses on arithmetic for multi-digit numbers and fractions. It also has sections on number sense, the history of numbers, and playing with numbers. Book 3 covers the non-arithmetic parts of elementary school math. It covers solving equations and word problems, probability and statistics, graphing, geometry, measurements, time, money, and reasoning. "As a lifelong lover of numbers and a teacher of math for 35 years, I find Chris Wright's Kitchen Table Math to be extraordinarily helpful in helping young children learn numerical concepts and enjoy math. All ideas are clearly explained and readily accessible to adults and children. One of my favorite parts of the book is the number of fun and engaging activities. How I would have loved to have had some of Chris' suggestions to use when my own children were growing up. I have bought copies of this book for my several grandchildren, a great niece and great nephew and for the daughter of a young friend of mine. I highly recommend Kitchen Table Math as a way to help children love working with numbers and recognize that math is a fun and natural part of the world." - Molly J. Robinson, retired school teacher

Review: Highly recommended - I bought this book a while ago, and it was sitting on the shelf. I finally got around to doing a lesson with my 6 year old son who loves math. We sat down and did 170 pages of lessons in one night. It may sound like I am pushing him, but he loves math so much that that lesson did not even phase him and we could have easily done the entire book, but it was his bedtime. That night when I put him the bed, I turned off the light, then I came back in the room because I needed something. As soon as I turned on the light again, he grabbed this book and started reading it again. I had to take it off him. Although I went over much of the book with him, he was reading it by himself as well. I plan not to sell this book on ebay, but just to leave it around for him to review or to use as reference for himself. Now that being said, the book was easily digested and very well organized. It covered every topic really well, and surely the author knows what she is talking about. Not only about math and teaching, but how to explain concepts very well. Even if you are someone who thinks you know all the tricks about math, you will still get some ideas from this book I assure you. I told my son to memorize the rhyme in the book about which months have 31 days, and he did. This is one example of the helpfulness and usefulness of this book. Don't get me wrong, even though this was easy for him, it really taught him the concepts well. They covered patterns as well. In my opinion there is NO better book for children to get started in math besides this book. It also covered fraction, shapes and even measurement. The illustrations are spot on as well, helping to understand the concepts. I plan to finish what's left of the book with my son and purchase Volume 2 (and then 3).
Review: Better late than never. - I am a home schooling mother of two. My first is in 8th grade and has just finished Algebra 1, my second is 4 months old. Oh how I wish we'd picked up this book when my first DS was little. There was so much I didn't understand when we started. My sons distaste for math has been my choice of curriculum and how I approached the subject. This book will make you think mathematically so you can help your children do the same. Dr. Wright helps you understand the concepts your child needs to master before s/he can master the material. He gives great ideas for making math fun and incorporating it into your daily life. I was so excited to get this book as I am determined not to repeat the same mistakes. I first found this book through the AoPS website. I emailed the author with questions and he was gracious enough to quickly respond with ideas and explanations. If you want to help your children with math so that they can compete with the rest of the world - you should get this book and stop over at AoPS. We switched curriculum to AoPS, now I have to restrict the amount of time my son spends on math. However, we are having to repeat Algebra 1 (though we are moving through it rather swiftly) because my son never learned to think mathematically so he couldn't apply what he was learning. Save yourself the grief. It has been rumored that AoPS is going to publish workbooks to go with the Kitchen Table Math series. I hope that happens before my youngest enters kindergarten.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Math Content for Young Learners

The book arrived pretty quick considering it is international shipping after i placed an order on 16 June 2021. The Prime Amazon packaging was wrapped in bubble wrap so my new paper back book came in pristine condition. The printing is clear and I'm really happy with the contents to teach my little bub who is now 15 months old. A lot of useful tools and tips and suggestions are shared to readers who may have no idea where to start. I have 2 other boys who are older and wish I had read this book earlier to give them a proper math headstart.
