To the Sea is the fifth studio album from American singer/songwriter Jack Johnson. Recorded at Johnson's own solar powered studios, The Mango Tree in Hawaii and produced by himself, the album sees Johnson deliver another collection of laidback, acoustic numbers in the vein of his previous work. The lead single "You And Your Heart" is included. Review: brill! - excellent! Review: Fantastic Album - Great album full of great songs, mellow, satisfying, beautiful.

After a few listens ...
... I really got into this album. I love Jack Johnson's music because it is so calming and easy to listen to. The problem I sometimes find, and particularly with this album, is that for the first few listens it is difficult to differentiate between songs and I certainly couldn't relate a song to one of the titles on the back of the album cover. But the more I listen the more each song takes on its own identity and at the moment this album is a constant companion of mine. Stand out song for me comes right at the end; 'Only the Ocean' is a truly beautiful song that I will never tire of listening to.

Brilliant
Bought this CD after having purchased Jack's yellow covered album. Brilliant classic Jack Johnson tunes that make you think of summer. Would definitely recommend all Jack fans to get this CD.

lovely..
Everybody to their own. I am not a music aficionado, I simply enjoy listening to Jack Johnson, amongst others. I have all of his albums, and this one does get played more than some.

Another great listen from Jack
Have all the other Jack Johnson albums and this one does not disappoint. Higher tempo than some of the others, it still has all the classic Jack Johnson riffs. highly recommended for any Jack Johnson fan.

Let me preface this by saying I am a huge Jack Johnson fan. So take my review for what it's worth. It's hard to review music because we all have different tastes. For me, this hits the mark. But I've not heard a Jack song that hasn't "hit the mark". Good music (imo) evokes some sort of feeling or emotion that keeps you coming back for more. The feelings/ emotions I typically experience with JJ's music range from sunny/ cheerful/"feel good" to more mellow/ contemplative... or nostalgia... or possibly a combination of the aforementioned. No matter the feeling, I truly enjoy listening to his music, and this album is no exception. Outside of his music, Jack is an all-around great guy. An adoring husband, involved father, environmental activist, etc-- and it's all genuine. He doesn't pretend to be something he's not... what you see is what you get. His lyrics seems to be from his heart and I can relate to his music. When it's all said and done, I find myself gravitating toward music I can relate to. For some, Jack is too mellow (count my husband in that crowd)- for me, he's perfect. This is my style, tried and true. So if you're already NOT a Jack Johnson fan, this album may not work for you. Not only do I find all the songs on this album catchy and "familiar", I find myself listening to it over and over (as do my 3 and 5 year old- I really appreciate the universal appeal Jack has!). I agree with a previous reviewer who stated that the familiarity of Jack (another criticism of some) is what makes him great. Jack is reliable - but not in a boring way. This album, though slightly different from the others, doesn't stray far from the original Jack Johnson. All the songs are catchy- if I heard them on the radio for the first time, I would want to find out who the artist is. One thing about musicians that gets me is you hear a great single on the radio, go out and buy the album, and the rest of it is boring. No feeling/ no catchy tunes/ etc. Not so with this album or any of Jack's albums, for that matter. Five stars from me! Keep doing what you're doing Jack!!!
