Quality rock orchestra
This is an excellent horror themed rock/classical crossover. Tubukar Hell is my favorite track, a twisted mix of tubular bells, Dies Irae and The Hall of Mountain King. Well worth checking out.

If you are looking for some great seasonal music for Halloween and have any interest at all in hard rock, then you absolutely have to check this out. Seriously. Skip the short intros above and go directly to youtube. Search for 'Oculus Infernum' and listen to 'Tubular Hell', or 'The Child', or 'Let Me Prey'. I mean it: go now. I'll wait. See? I was right. You can skip the rest of this review because now you've got an idea how great this disc is. You can go ahead and buy it, with confidence. My work here is done. If you're still not convinced, here's some more info that might be helpful. First of all, understand that this really is a concept album. All the songs are part of a larger story, tied together with the excellent narration of Dee Snider. The narration is short and to the point, never overstaying its welcome, and always providing an excellent 'stage' for the song that follows. And the songs are fantastic, with virtuoso musicianship throughout. Many of the musical themes are recognizable, from horror movies to classical masterpieces. Despite the obvious similarities to Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Van Helsing's Curse is unique. I'll be playing this every Halloween season, year after year, until I'm dead and in the ground. And maybe even after that...
